Paris musuem pass
 

Does a musuem pass start on the day you buy it or the day you first use it? are children 15 and 16 free at most musuems? if not and I have a pass but they have to pay at some -is there a way to still avoid the lines? we are travelling in mid feb.and wondering if during this time of year there are lines at most exhibits? Last year in london at this time the lines and crowds were large.thanks.

The museum pass has a blank space where you write in the day you wish to start. Be advised that the pass is for consecutive days. Most are free for those under 18. The kids should be prepared to show proof of age. Time Out is one of the few tour guides that lists all the admission prices. There are lots of previous posts on this board with extensive information concerning these passes.

You can purchase the Museum Carte at any of a number of museums or historical sites. When I did, they marked the first day of my 5-day pass. It was one of the best purchases I made. When I went to the Louvre, the regular line to enter was about 200 yards long and wrapped around the yard. The special entrance for Carte holder had two people in line! Definitely worth every penny and saved hours of useless standing in line time! Most of the places that accept the Carte have a special entrance -- just ask. There was an extra charge at Versailles, but you paid that once you entered through the door for Carte holders.

The best hint that I have seen is to purchase two shorter passes instead of one 5day pass so you can take a break from nonstop museum touring. check out www.parisfranceguide.com for tons of info including museums.
