Paris museums closed onTuesdays?

On a travel program this week on T.V.,one of my travel buddies said they heard them say the museums in Paris were always closed on Tuesdays. I've not heard this before. We will be in Paris from Monday through Thursday. It would really change our site seeing itinerary of this is true. Any advice?

National museums (the Louvre and others) are closed on Tuesdays. Museums of the city of Paris (such as the D'Orsay) are closed on Mondays. It will be very worth your while to buy the museum pass in order to bypass the long lines for entry.

I seem to recall that the D'Orsay is closed on Tuesday, but it is open on Monday.

This site gives information about the museum pass mentionned by Gretchen and also shows you at a glance which days the museums are closed. You can click on individual museums for more precise info( e.g. hours) and descriptions.

http://www.paris.org/Expos/ParisTickets/CarteMusees/
