Paris museum pass-mishap

Is it the end of the world if we wrote a wrong date on our Paris Museum pass, and had to change it? Will it still work?

HowardR Sep 13th, 2003 06:50 PM

It won't work....and I speak from experience. When we were in Paris, I wrote in the date as we were approaching the entrance to the Louvre, never noticing that it was closed that day because of a holiday! I tried changing the date, but it was not accepted the next day, despite my pleas!

The thing to do is let the museum write in the date when you first use it. I know this doesn't help cmoon but for anyone else.

You're totally right Gretchen! For some reason the RailEurope people told me to do it, and I asked them if they were sure, and they said yes. I'm going to see if the people in the Tourist Office can help to sort it out.

The other option is to use an erasable pen. Technically, you're not supposed to, but we did it by accident and had no problems.

If you just wait until you actually get to the entrance of your first site before filling in the date, you'll be okay.

don't count on the tourist office-we were there when there was a rotating museum strike. Museums were not selling the passes. We did not know about the strike and purchased a pass at the metro station (which also was not supposed to be selling the pass). We asked for some consideration or an extension at the tourist office, but we were told we were out of luck. There is some clause on the pass exempting reponsibility in case of strike. Where else would you see thatexcept in France where they have a website that is updated daily about that days strikes.
