Paris Museum Pass/Free Day

So I thought we'd want to get a Museum Pass to just bypass lines and also have options to pop in etc. But I see that the Sunday we'll be there is a free day. I had planned for that to be a museum day.

Friday - land at noon - probably wont go to a museum
Saturday - guided tour - not sure how much we'll want to do museum after
Sunday - Free Day
Monday - want to go to D'orsay and Rodin but doh! Didn't think about closing
Tuesday - Bike Tour at Giverney - no options for museum
Wednesday - museum day
Thursday - Leave

My question... Does the Museum Pass give you a benefit on "Free Day" do you get to skip line etc....

Also - How crowded would Sunday free day be - compared to Saturday afternoon.....

Sunday free days are super crowded. I would avoid it.

+1 - I would avoid free Sundays for sure.

Hi. We used the free sunday on our last trip. We went to the Rodin and the cluny. lines were long but wait was no lonnger than 20 minutes. don't go to the orsay or lourvre but pick some of the smaller ones.

Keep in mind that the museum pass works for consecutive days. If you get a 3-day pass, it works the first day you use it and the next two days. A museum pass may not work well for you unless you move some things around.

I see that the Sunday we'll be there is a free day

Free Sundays are suspended until October so if you are going to be in Paris before then, there will be no free Sundays.

The Museum pass allows you to skip the ticket lines but not generally the much longer security lines. The pass can be helpful at the Musée d´Orsay with a special entrance but overall, it is not going to give you instant access inside museums.

All true mamcalice but the Paris Museum Pass is only sold for 2, 4, or 6 consecutive day periods.

Yes I think my itinerary doesn't allow for best use of it. Does Pass allow you to skip line even if a Free day? Unfortunately I don't think I can swap those things around too much. Ha! Planning sometimes gets you to a corner.

On this site there are lists of which museums are free every day year round, free on 1st Sundays year round, free at other times, etc.

We went to the Cluny (Musée National du Moyen Age) and the Cité de l'Architecture museums on a first Sunday a couple of years ago and found no crowds at all.

Where are you getting this info about "free days" and for what museums? You are going very soon, I believe. There are no free days at the Louvre from April through September, which includes now. I think the Orsay and Rodin do have free admission first Sunday, but if you have a pass, the absolutely last thing in the world I'd do with it is go to any museum on a free day when the place is a zoo. I was in the Louvre once on a free day and it was so horrible I had to leave within a half hour. the Orsay is very, very popular, you don't want to be there on a free day.

SO if you want to go to the Louvre with your pass, that sounds good as there is no free day there.

MaineGG's link shows the D'orsay and others free all year round. I wasn't planning to go to the Louvre (avoid the crowds!) but given not free on that day maybe it wouldn't be so crowded...

I'm wondering if my trip to Giverney on Tuesday really undoes my schedule but I really also heard it's marvelous and fun to have on trip out of the city.
