Paris Museum Pass

We are considering buying a Paris Museum Pass. It can be ordered online and picked up: to avoid shipping costs, you can collect your order free of charge from the central Paris Tourist Office : 25 rue des Pyramides, Paris 1st.

Is this a good idea?

Why not just get it at the airport when you arrive, or at the first museum you go to? I don't see any advantage to having to trundle over to the main tourist office.

I see no advantage to paying more for something and then having one more thing to remember to pack.

Where are you staying, we can tell you closest pick up point to your accomadations. .or you can get it at the Tourist info desk at the airport.

I think most people don't bother with pre ordering its too easy to get in town for free.

All participating museums sell it so go to a lesser museum without long lines and quickly pick it up and perhaps see a museum you never would have gone to and may enjoy.

don;t buy a pass for Sunday coverage as many museums are half-off or even free (Louvfre first Sunday of every month I think) or on Monday when some are closed.

No need to do that and have one more thing to keep up with. There is no advantage in either time or money to buying a museum pass in advance. Get it at the airport when you arrive (that's what we did - no line at all), or at the first museum you go to.

Thanks again. I've learned to ask the experts first!

We also bought it at the airport. No line, no hassles.

Definitely go to Musee D'Orsay but don't pick up the museum pass there. Airport is good advice or a small museum.

Ditto - - buy it at a smaller, uncrowded, museum either near your hotel or on the way to someplace else (and, as PalenQ says, pop in for a look at a "not-planned-for" museum, and perhaps be pleasantly surprised.

Airport is good, too, if it is not out of your way (CDG is huge!) or, like me, you're really anxious to get to the city. :-)

YOu can buy them at an official Paris Tourist Office even without prebuying, so what is the purpose of doing that in advance?
