Paris: mother/young daughter lunch suggestions
Three moms and four daughters ages 7-13 will be visiting Paris for the day in January. Any tips on the perfect "girly" spot for an easy lunch and delicious pastries? This is a first time trip for one of the mom's/daughters and I am thinking pretty, pink, tea and just screaming "we are in Paris!!!!" I originally thought Laduree but they are quite pricey.

Hi bb,
>I am thinking pretty, pink, tea and just screaming "we are in Paris!!!!"< Are you sure that you aren't thinking London? :) Perhaps http://www.angelina-paris.fr/#/home/ or http://www.berthillon.fr/ Enjoy your visit ((I)) |
Another trip, another time. :) I forgot about Angelina! Perfect!!
|
Why not the cheaper version for lunch at the Eiffel Tower--Altitude __. If you're gonna "do" Paris, really do it.
|
Un Dimanche A Paris....it is beautiful spot with even more beautiful pastries and macarons ( I think they are much better than Laduree). It is located of rue St Andre des Arts and Blvd ST Germain in the 6th arrondisement.
They have a tea salon and there is an area between the lovey boutique and the restaurant where you can watch them make their spectacular creations! www.un-dimanche-a-paris.com/ |
mmmmmm....I think we will visit them all.
|
The reviews for Un Dimanche A Paris are fantastic! That is the place....if we can find it. Thanks so much!

O.k, I would really love to find Un Dimanche! I like to have a bit of a travel plan though I do enjoy wandering a bit. Am I right that it is in a corridor called Cours du commerce Saint-André (bringing my camera for that area!!!) Where is the nearest metro station? I will have a GPS so I can input the address for walking, but I would like to get us to the nearest metro to make it a bit easier. We can wander after we leave with our chocolate buzz.

Any suggestions for the Ile St Louis? I have always wanted to visit this area, but haven't made it yet. I am the "tour guide" for this trip so it might be nice to see a new area.
|
I've eaten on the Ile at the Brasserie de L'Ile,outdoor table, located at bridge to Ile de la Cite.good food, but not particularly girlie. I might do Dimanche, then in your wanderings go to the Ile for a Berthillon ice cream. Or...dinner on the Ile then walk over to Vedettes for a Seine cruise assuming time permits

Le Printemps has a restaurant. I don't remember it being high on charm but good views of Paris and the shopping before or after could be fun.

The closest Metro station is Odeon. As you come up to the street (the statue of Danton is in front of you); Blvd St Germain, look over to the right). The Cour de Commerce is a passageway that links Blvd St Germain and rue St Andre des Arts. The archway marking the entrance is next to a cafe called Indiana.
Cross Blvd St Germain at the light in front of you at the Carrefour de l'Odeon(Le Danton cafe will be on the left at the corner/light). I believe the actual street is rue de L'Ancienne Comedie to the right and rue de Conde to the left. After you cross, stay on Blvd St Germain, but go to the right and you will see the arched entrance to the passageway on your left next to a place called Indiana. Un Dimanche a Paris will be on your right in the passageway. I agree that on Ile St Louis, try Berthillon. It is a must. We enjoyed L'Orangerie on Ile St Louis. Reasonable prices; great lunch. You can reserve online at La Fourchette.com. There is a great shop for scarves on Ile St Louis (Diwali, one of multiple locations) and a nice chocolate shop across from Diwali. It used to be Cacao et Chocolat, but the name has changed and I don't know it now. |
If you also plan to work some art into your day, another suggestion would be the lovely restaurant at Musee d'Orsay. http://www.musee-orsay.fr/en/visit/s...staurants.html
To me, this definitely screams We are in Paris! The room itself is beautiful, I've always had nice service there and good food, and you are surrounded by lovely impressionist art. Voila! |
Ooohhh we are studying the impressionist right now in school!!!
