Paris--> Montreux--> Bern--> Gimmelwald

I was thinking of leaving Paris in the morning and going to Montreux to see the castle. Afterwards, I will catch a train into Bern and see the town for 2 hours. After that, I will head into Gimmelwald for sleep.

Is it possible to do this in one day?

I will do this in early June 2009.

Hi hobbitthefoodlover,

I wonder if you've found the Swiss rail site at

www.rail.ch

There, you can input all of these journeys to see how long they are.

I wouldn't do it, not if you paid me!

Paris to Geneva is about four hours
Geneva to Montreux is about 90 minutes
*walk to castle is about 45 minutes, see the castle, take the bus back, maybe two hours in all*
Montreux to Bern is about 1h40
*walk around Bern, say two hours*
Bern to Gimmelwald is about two hours

When you get done, you'll be like the poster who once told someone not to go to Luzern because . . . these was no lake there! Truly, you won't remember what you saw or where it was. Sorry, but this would be a total waste of your time and money --

Hi again,

There is a TGV directly to Bern from Paris, so is that what you mean? That would be nice -- take the TGV, then stroll the city and have a nice lunch, then continue on. That would be a very nice break!

Yup! That's what I plan to do.

Btw, if you know anything about Normandy Beach Tour (costs over $100) and whether it is worth joining, let me know

Hope you get your answers.
