Paris metro

Any legal minds out there. Yesterday on my way to Spain, the handrail at one of the metro stops collapsed while I was climbing the stair. I had a huge egg on forehead, now large bruise and blackeye, bruised everywhere, legs, arms back. I couldn't wait for police or I would have missed my plane. Spoiled my four days in Spain as I have difficult walking and look awful. I did report accident to station attendant and she took particulars from my passport.

I guess if it had happened in New York City you could possibly sue the city, but it would be highly doubtful in Paris.

Get in touch with the RATP. Here is specific information about injuries incurred: http://www.commentfaiton.com/fiche/v...rreur-medicale

Take pictures of yourself. Get a doctor's evaluation. Attach them.

What a bummer. Sorry this happened to you!

kerouac May 20th, 2013 10:20 AM

What does the RATP have to do with this? She doesn't even say what city she was in.

kerouac May 20th, 2013 10:24 AM

Oh, I hadn't noticed that the title of the post was "Paris metro." Sorry!

I am having a bit of trouble imagining a handrail collapsing, though.

It's another good reason to buy travel insurance with good medical and trip interruption coverage.

Interesting link StCirq, but what does this incident have to do with medical malpractice (Vous avez été victime d’une erreur médicale ?)

StCirq May 20th, 2013 12:04 PM

Kerouac, the title of the post is Paris Metro.

Sorry, posted the wrong link. Will go back and see if I can find the right one!

Here is the link to the RATP email you can use to contact them:

Thank you. I've a hard Tme imagining a collapse as well. But here I'm with a huge black eye, and bruises everywhere. To the person who wrote I didn't mention the city, I suggest you read more carefully as I suggest the Paris metro check its handrails more often.

kerouac May 21st, 2013 08:46 AM

Since the accident was duly reported and your details noted, the RATP should be getting in touch with you.

"To the person who wrote I didn't mention the city, I suggest you read more carefully...."

He did and came back and said "Sorry!"

Christina May 21st, 2013 09:12 AM

I do that all the time, don't notice details in the post, and miss that is was in the heading.

anneinmanhattan May 21st, 2013 10:40 AM

Yes, he did say "sorry" but there's nothing more annoying when one posts a problem and the response is critical and not at all helpful. First, the comment that I didn't mention city and then a sorry that was insincere. Too bad he can't imagine a handrail collapsing. I hope it never happens to him and ruins his vacation. Don't respond if your sole interest is to criticize. Thanks much to the person who gave me info on where to write. It's appreciated.
