Paris-Marseille

Does anyone know if there are any buses running between Paris and Marseille? I'm trying to find a cheaper alternative to the SNCF.

Hi V,

Paris to Marseille is about 8 hr by road.

By train it takes 3:16 hr and costs 25E if you buy your tickets as early as 60 days in advance at www.sncf.com.

You will be hard put to find cheaper than the train.

I agree with Morgan, you can't find buses cheaper than the train in France for frequent, long-distance runs. The discount advance-purchase fares on SNCF are ridiculously cheap (note Ira's post). There wouldn't be any demand for buses between those points due to the train. Perhaps you can cobble together various bus routes, but I think you should forget that. Easyjet used to fly between Paris and Marseille, also, so you could check them, as you can get some very cheap fares on them (like 10 euro), but they may have stopped that route due to the cheap discount fares from the train.

Train train train! Don't even think about a bus! If you plan it right and in time, you'll make the journey cheap and civilized :)

If EasyJet's prices are like SkyEurope's, they are misleading. The actual cost can be double once taxes and fees are added.
