Well - you'll have to rush to get to all the sites on your list in one day. London is a biiiiiig place and the sites you want to see are spread over a wide area. You can take the tube to get around - but that involves a LOT of walking (both to/from tube stations and under ground between platforms)

Just noticed "bus trip" at the end of your list. If that means the double decker tour buses - that alone will take nearly 3 hours.

I was thinking #15 or any other recommended routes.

But the rest of your itinerary is still pushing it. What day of the week? because except for 1 night a week, museums and galleries close pretty early.

I agree with others that it isn't possible to do quick walkthrough of any major London museum. However, if you wanted just one museum experience, I would do one of these two, depending on your own interests...

Either go into the British Museum and see the Elgin Marbles and Rosetta Stone...

Or else the British Library (my personal favorite) to see cool artifacts like Karl Marx's library card, Coleridge's cocaine-addled handwritten manuscript of Kubla Kahn, and John Lennon's scribbled Beatles lyrics on a cocktail napkin.

Try to see St. Paul's Covent Garden. Delightful little garden. I think the the portico is the opening scene in My Fair Lady.

If i were in London just one day for the first time then i'd just get off the train at Waterloo amble over the Thames, ride the British Air Eye Over London big wheel to see it all from above
then sashay over the river to Leicester Sq Piccadilly area Trafalgar Sq - the hub of tourist London

and then to nearby Covent Garden, always lively

and walk along the South Bank of the Thames to the Tower and back to Waterloo - of course buses pick up the slack if tired.

You can glimpse Somerset House on the way.

I wouldn't worry about seeing any museums, etc. but just rather wander and wonder around.
