Paris location: rue de Turenne
 

I am going to have to book an apartment very soon, and do want to know what folks here think of rue de Turenne, just above Place des Vosges (about three blocks).

I appreciate your thoughts.

The closer to PdeV the busier/more crowded it will be. At the other end: Jacques Genin. For me a yes.

What are your concerns? It would suit me down to the ground, if the apartment itself is OK. There's a fair amount of traffic down the street, so noise might be a concern if the apartment (or at least the bedroom/s) overlook it, but that's true of so much of Paris, after all.

Concerns? Don't really have any serious ones, but I really wanted some opinions. I think it would suit me down to the ground, too.

Great location - we loved our stays in that area. And the 96 bus runs right along r. de Turenne

I don't like the Marais in general that much, so I wouldn't stay there (I find that street kind of gloomy), but since you do like that area, it should be fine. Nothing terribly wrong with it and it is near various transportation options. The problem with the bus going down it is that it is the Marais, thus the streets are rather narrow.

Drat: the bathroom is only accessible from the main bedroom. Our friend would have to come through our bedroom to go to the bathroom. This is getting harder and harder. For just the two of us, we never have a problem. A second bedroom really complicates things.

I'm not loving anything about the location, which I think is rather charmless, but the apartment ticks the boxes and minus the charm factor, it seems like a good location for sightseeing and transportation.

I have stayed in that building, though not in that apartment.

It is a great building in a great location, and the 96 bus does indeed stop almost outside the door. There is an amazing boulangerie across the street.

My only caveat is that you want a unit facing the courtyard and perhaps looking out over the buildings behind. The rue de Turenne is a major artery, and the street side units would be noisy.

Have you looked at the Parler Paris apartments? They have some 2 bedrooms that might work for you. I rented from them last month and was very satisfied.

Also, I took bus 96 on Rue de Turenne almost every day. I really didn't like the street that much. Noisy and sort of blah.
