Paris - Le Marais - Food
 

We are going to Paris for Spring Break. I am looking for recommendations on reasonable places to eat near Le Marais in general and/or for Easter.

A lot of people usually go to rue de Rosiers, the old Jewish quarter, and have falafels or something, that's cheap. L'As du Falafel is the most wellknown place http://www.nytimes.com/2006/12/31/tr...bite.html?_r=0

We love l'Ange 20 on rue de Tournelles just outside of Place des Vosges. You can book on their website

We have eaten here several times. Food is good, atmosphere is that of a bustling bistro.

Breizh Cafe has buckwheat crepes - excellent - and a cider list that is a revelation. We enjoyed this place so much we ate here twice in 10 days.

Just off the Place de Vosges at the corner of rue de Turenne & rue des Francs Bourgeois, is the Royal Turenne, a classic. I had lunch there with a friend who lives a few doors up and this is her usual place.

L'As du Falafel is not the best you can have: we like MiVaMi opposite better, it's a "real" restaurant, with tables and chairs and their houmous is great. Nice people, often busy and closed for shabbat, and kosher.

Just a a side note: Rue des Rosiers used to be very jewish, but apart from a book store, a Cash Cacher, a butcher and a baker, there's not much yiddishkeit left. There are a few favorite synagogues and shtieblach still, but most people now live in the 11th or even the 17th. I've always liked Rue Richer better, with its more sephardic flavor.

I think the best onion soup I ever had was at Au Bouquet Saint Paul.85 Rue Saint-Antoine. It is at the southwest corner of St.Paul and Saint-Antoine. Also, just south of there on St. Paul, perhaps 125 meters, is La Enoteca, with very nice lunch specials.

We ate at La Briciola on Rue Charlotte more than once when we were there. Good pizza, antipastas, with friendly service. Also there's an excellent Poilane bakery on Rue Debelleyme. Neither of these would be an option for Easter but I'd definitely recommend them if they're near where you're staying.

If you like a seafood you should visit Les Pinces. It's very delicious foods.
