Paris: Le grand Colbert Restaurant
We saw the movie "Something's Gotta Give" and this restaurant was featured as Diane Keaton's favorite restauran in Paris. Is it as wonderful as it looks? And is the food really as good as it looked? I loved that movie and highly recommend it :-D! Judy

Yes, this is a very attractive place serving good meals. Ask for Laurent, one of the nicest maitre'd's in Paris. The back of the restaurant opens into Galerie Colbert. They have a web site.
Nice walk going through the Palais Royale on the way, or down Rue Vivienne from the Grands Boulevards Metro, going through the Passage de Panoramas. The best restaurant in the area is Le Vaudeville, across the street from the Bourse. |
Oh I remember getting lost with the Yankee and stopping for lunch at Le Vaudeville. They were so nice and while I do not remember the food, the place and experience was lovely~
I ahve to see this movie!! |
Great, another reason to see this movie. Yes, I think you'll like the restaurant. It's very atmospheric. We had their herring in oil. The herring is marinated in oil with onions and carrots. Potatoes are served on the side and the casserole of herring is set on your table for you to take as much as you like. When you've selected your portion, it's returned to the kitchen to be served to the next person who orders it. Wonderful stuff. The covered gallery (actually they call it a passage) that the restaurant is in is great to wander through. Has nice boutique shops. A good introduction to the passages of Paris which make for wonderful exploration and get you into areas a bit off the regular tourist track. Enjoy.

Sounds Fabulous! I think it will be MY next b-day dinner(like Diane Keaton's character). Yes Scarlett, you will LOVE this movie, We went to see "Bad Santa", which was REALLY bad, and I walked out and left my husband there, and I went to see "Something.." again ...it affected me so much. I laughed and cried and loved the characters all over again! It so nice to see movies that feature "women of a certain age" in a very positive light. Best movie of the year IMVHO. Judy :-D
