Paris Layover
 

Hi Everyone - Just looking for some quick advice. My husband and I are taking two other couples to Germany and Northern Italy next month. While we have been quite a few times they have never visited outside of the US. My question is regarding our 3 hour layover in Paris. Based on your opinions and experience is this enough time to rush past the Eiffel Tower and other sites of interest downtown? We are open to taxi, train, bus, etc. although from my understanding trains are the quickest. We are connecting to Munich and want to ensure we don't miss our flight, if it were just the two of us I wouldn't hesitate but rebooking 6 people isn't worth the hassle. Please let me know what you think!

Three hours is enough to change planes and not much more. You don't have any time to leave the airport. So, forget about Eiffel Tower and anything else.

I would not try to run into Paris from CDG with only a three hour layover. It is at least 40 minutes each way, by cab or RER, and that is if there is no traffic. When you arrive and depart you may find yourself taking a bus from the plane into the terminal and back out to the plane, which means you may be on the ground on time but you will probably not be in the terminal very quickly. Furthermore, if CDG is your arrival city won't you have to go through customs? That could mean waiting for your luggage, going through customs and rechecking the luggage. Waiting for luggage is often a long process at CDG, which could take up a significant amount of your layover time. I don't think you will have time for anything except getting from one plane to the next in that amount of time at CDG. Sorry.

Gosh, no! Don't even think about doing that. Just deplaning and finding your connecting flight will take up most of that time. You'll be lucky if you have time for a cup of coffee.
