Paris: Jim Haynes dinners

several friends of mine on line, have attended these Sundays events. Beatchick enjoyed
herself. I've read many reviews that are mixed (no surprise-like most restaurants)
Have you experienced a dinner there?

I went last spring, met nice people, loved the building, food and wine were perfectly acceptable, visited a neighborhood I would not have otherwise and had a good time. Will I be going back? Probably not anytime soon but I do recommend it. It's a people event, not a culinary one. Jim's not getting any younger so if you're curious go while you can.

Just reserved our place for dinner with Jim on our last Sunday in Paris. I hope it will be a nice way to wrap up our week there.

don't forget to give us a report.
The guy has an incredible memory. Remembers who was there before.

Thanks for posting that link, cigalechanta.

We enjoyed it when we went back in 2009, and MmePerdu hit it on the head: it's a people event, not a culinary one. If you go in with the expectation that the point of the night is to meet Jim and other interesting travelers (although there were some locals there as well), you'll have a good time. For me, it was a "do once" kind of event, but I bet my husband (from Louisiana, like Jim) wouldn't mind going back.

I will definitely post a report.

YankyGal, we're from New Orleans so have that connection too! We love meeting people abroad but don't have too many opportunities to do that usually.

We went 2 years ago and had a fun time--we ate in the courtyard and the food was good, chatted with some nice people--I wouldn't go if it is bad weather as you need the outdoors to spread out. Well worth it for a different evening.
