Paris itinerary, comments and suggestions please!!
 

Ok, after reading this forum and research I think I have managed to make a itinerary, although I am not sure how good it is. I would really appreciate any suggestions you would make on it, as it our (husband, mine and little sister - age 14) first visit to Paris.

We will have three days to accomplish this, however, only one full day.

On Monday May 31 Eurostar from London arriving at 11:47 am. Our hotel is in the 2nd arr.

We leave on the Eurostar at 1:04 pm on Wed. June 2.

We want to visit the Louvre (closed on Tues. and only open until 6:45 on Mon as it is a holiday), the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame and the Arc de Truimph.

I was thinking that we would visit the Louvre Monday night after getting into Paris.

On Tuesday head to the Eiffel Tower first thing, have lunch and then head to Notre Dame. Could we work in the Arc de Truimph here or should it be done Wed morning before we leave? I was hoping to have a bit of time Wed morning to do a little shopping.

Looks like a good itinerary to me. Just a couple of comments. The Louvre , according to their website, closes at 6pm on that monday. In France, closed at 6 means the lights out and no one is home. It doesnt mean head to the door at 6. I would suspect they will start hearding you to the door at around 5:30.

I assume you mean you will visit the Louvre that afternoon and not that monday evening? You should have plenty of time to visit it.

On Tuesday I see no reason why you couldnt do all 3 of your objectives. The only thing that really takes time at ND is the climb to the top. If you are planning on doing that it might get a little tight if the line is long.

Easily done if you plan ahead. get to the Tower EARLY in case there are long lines..that way you can be at the front of the lines.
The A de T is more or less a "look at" stop IMO. There can be lines at N.D. too, depending on how many tour busses are there but they always seem to move faster than the ones at the Tower.

I suggest you checkout the Batobus at www.batobus.com.

The boats make a loop on the Seine that includes stops at the Louvre, Eiffel Tower.

You get a discount on multi-day passes.

While you are at Notre Dame, I highly recommend you take the time to see St. Chapelle. It is an exquisite sight and best seen on a sunny day so the incredible stained glass is shown to best advantage. It will only take a short time but it is well worth seeing.

I stay in the 2nd also. What hotel did you pick?

No Musee d'Orsay?

Of course there are more things we would like to see, but with limited time (and a teenager ;) ) we picked the most important to us. So, we will save the Musee d'Orsay until next time :)

RonZ, we are staying at the Hotel Sainte Marie, we are on a budget and its the cheapest I came across for a triple and its close to all the tourist stuff! :)
