abranz - Don't obsess! Everything will turn out o.k. (this coming from an obsesser myself who is now back home!) I packed too much. I wore my dark wash jeans every day (i had more than one pair!), even though I took some nicer slacks. The segway looked like fun - easier on the legs also if you haven't ridden a bike for a while. We didn't do any tours - just walked everywhere! We took the metro and train as well as the batobus on our last day. We were able to fit in so much more than our itinerary - on a previous post I stated that we weren't happy unless our brains were oozing out when we returned at the end of the day and that is really how it was! It was fun to sit in the gardens and relax for bits of time - but there was so much to see and do and eat! And please try and have the hot chocolate at Angelinea's. It is really, really good. It is not too far from the back of the Louvre on rue Rivoli street. It's just down a ways from the Joan of arc statue. Have fun!

every post of yours makes the excitement mount.
it is hard to stop obsessing.
this is the first big trip i am taking without dh and planning it entirely on my own.
it will be so different with just dd and myself - we are very girly and love fashion which is something dh tries to tolerate.
so the 2 gals can indulge and soak up fashion all we want.

i think i am a light packer but when the temps are colder than i am used to, i start adding and adding and fretting.
but now, based on your experience, i will cut down.

i definitely have angelina's on my list - right after we visit the louvre

Well, if you love fashion, you have to take a stroll down Rue St. Honore, Fauborg St. Honore, and Rue Cambon.

Another great spot to people watch is Deux Maggots on St. Germaine. Louis Vuitton is right next door on Rue Bonaparte.

I just wanted to also mention that the Laduree on Rue Bonaparte is much less crowded than the shop on Rue Royale in front of the Madeleine. There are lines out the door at that shop.

abranz - haha ok! my countdown starts now because my hubby jus surprised me 3 weeks ago with this trip as our 4th anniversary present :)
sad thing is that I cant celebrate my anniversary in Paris coz the apartment we wanted isn't available on our actual anniversary date, so we are going to London first before Paris

abranz - Where do you live? I live in WI so the temps were warmer than I was used to. I only wore a light lined coat on the cooler days (I did buy a scarf there) and on the warmer days I had just a nice sweatshirt type material zip up on. I was never cold. It looks like the temps are going to be a bit warmer than when were there. So far the weather doesn't look too bad for you! I'm still suffering with some jet lag. My brain just doesn't feel as sharp as usual - I even took Monday off as we got in late on Sunday night, but yesterday and today here at work has been a little tough. I'm going to try and get some photos downloaded tonight on photobucket. I have quite a few on myspace. Do you have a my space account?

i live in the s.f. bay area so the weather here is quite mild. lately it has been in the mid seventies and i am in full spring/summer gear.
i have been watching the weather in paris and will hold off on the final packing until sunday night.
i have to leave room for purchases you know!!!
especially the chanel purchases dd plans to make!! ha ha

i am quite backwards when it comes to the internet. no my space, facebook or twitter.
i only just started on this forum while researching my paris trip.
so i will just wait for your trip report to see your photos.

have you tried melatonin for your jet lag? it has helped me in the past.

Just to let you know that I live in the SF Bay area as well and have never been as cold or hot as one trip to Paris in July. We bookended our trip with stays in Paris. The first leg it was sweltering but when we returned 2 weeks later it was gray, damp and cold. Since that trip I pack silk long underwear whenever we travel. Well, not to Hawaii, but they have made a huge difference in comfort on European trips.

so far, it seems like we will be spending a lot of time on rue st. honore, fauborg st. honore, and rue cambon and of course the little boutiques in the marais and the big 3 dept. stores.

my very first fragrance at age 15 was diorissimo and then chanel no.9 at 21.
so, these 2 houses are a must - if only to pay homage and replenish my stock.

i also like obscure up and coming designers. do you have any recommendations?

that is exactly what i am afraid of - having to deal with 2 disparate temperatures.
i did that a lot for travel to n.y. and packing was always a huge guessing game.
hopefully, keeping up with the weather forecast will help a little.

if not, there is always shopping!!!

oh God, my husband will kill me if he keeps hearing about my shopping plans.
