Paris/Italy

My husband and I are looking to travel for two weeks this coming September using airline award certificates we earned. We wanted to travel in Italy, but can't seem to find seats to Rome, the only American destination. We can get seats to Paris. We've never been to either France or Italy, so it sounds good to us. We are looking for advice on getting from Paris to Venice. Train? Plane? Bottom line is that in our two weeks we want to definitely see Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, and end up in Rome where we'll fly home from. Is this taking on too much in two weeks? Advice appreciated. Thanks.

If you mean "see" in the context of a drive by shooting then 2 weeks is enough but if you really want to enjoy it, I would either take more time given that you are talking about some significant travel distances or target fewer places. As a consequence, you're going to eat up vacation time getting from place to place.

i agree you want to do too much but Volare Air connects with Venice and Rome from Paris Orly. Take the train in between and stay 2 nights in Florence and Venice and divide the rest between Paris and Rome and forget Cinque Terre.

Hi Blue,

I would spend a week in Paris and then take www.volareweb.com from Paris Orly to Venice.

I would then train to Florence for 4 days (with 1 day for Siena) and train back to Venice for 3 days before flying back to Paris and home.

Or you could do a week in Paris and fly Volare to Rome FCO and do a week there.

..agree with Ira...1 week Paris, Venice and Florence..I think your trip would be far too chaotic and rushed if included Cinque Terre and Rome..Only other suggestion would be a week in Paris with another week either Provence, Dordognne, or Normandy and Brittany...with your next visit to Italy!!!..but given that you would like to see both Italy and France on this trip, I think Ira has hit the mark with his suggestions..

I agree, or you can take the overnight train to Venice from Paris.

I would do either a week in Paris, week in Venice and Florence

Or..a week in Paris and a week in Rome.

You cant really go wrong!
Good luck with your decision!

If you do Zurich rather than Paris you can still do those 4 destinations in Italy.I would sure try.

I would never for a million exchange Paris for Zurich. Ira and others have recommended the ideal way to spend two weeks if you want to spend time both in Paris and Italy. Six days in Paris and 3 or 4 each in Venice and Florence.

The Paris/Zurich thing was merely a pass thru to Italy--the real destination.
