<BR>My wife and I will be in Paris for two nights in late September. We will be coming into Paris from Madrid on the overnight train. Any suggestions where to stay in a reasonable hotel given that we will not have a car and will need to return to the train station after two nights? Any help will be greatly appreciated. <BR> <BR>Thanks

I stayed at the Muguet in April for $85US for a twin room. Small hotel in the 7th arr. Eiffel Tower-Invalides area, close to metro. Clean little rooms, modern bathrooms good neighbourhood. Check out their website. <BR>A.M.

You'll be coming into Gare d'Austerlitz in Paris.That's not in a particularly good area to stay in at all. You'd be better off hopping a taxi or taking the metro into the central area and staying there where you'll be able to see the sights and have restaurants all over, and enjoy the whole experience a lot more. If you can't get into Hotel Muguet try Hotel La Motte Picquet in the same area. of the 7eme. <BR> <BR>If you are concerned about easy transportation back to the train station you could stay at Hotel Latour Maubourg -- which is very near the Invalides stop on the RER line C that goes directly to Gare Austerlitz.

Hi Dave. Paris literally has hundreds and hundreds of small, good hotels. <BR>Anyone who suggests one is speaking from personal experience, but the list goes on and on. I doubt more than two or three contributors to this forum have sampled a broad spectrum of Paris hotels. <BR>There are many lists of hotels in Paris, none of them complete. Here is one I like because it tells you where the hotel is located: <BR>http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/75paccue.htm <BR> <BR>I think everyone who has been to Paris and found a hotel that he or she liked has a valid opinion. I know I have my favorite and so do a lot of other visitors. You will be there late enough in the month that I don't think air conditioning will be essential, but I find it to be a valuable asset because it enables me to keep the windows closed and street noise out. <BR>As a general rule I am reluctant to discuss specific hotels because people's tastes and preferences vary so widely. <BR>And, you cannot always go by the number of stars assigned to a hotel. Four star establishments are almost always more expensive than I care to pay. On the other hand, some two star hotels may appeal to some as preferable to many of the three star establishments. <BR> <BR>The subject of hotels in Paris has been discussed ad infinitum, almost ad nauseam, on this forum. I suggest you do a search with the key words: Paris hotel <BR>I think you will turn up quite a few posts that discuss various favorites. <BR>Once the list grows to longer than 5 viable candidates, I have trouble knowing which one to choose. <BR>Do not hesitate to make a reservation. <BR>September in Paris is a busy month, with many exhibitions, trade shows, fashion shows, and political meetings. <BR>
