I'm leaving for Paris and going solo for the first time. Leaving October 8th or so. I'm hoping to somehow connect up with other solo travelers from the states or other places to meet for conversation or coffee and share travel ideas, etc. Anyone know of good websites for this. Although I like spending some time alone I'm more of an extrovert so hopefully all will work out.
This will be my fourth trip there, but first going solo. I'm staying in St Germain De Pres.

You could try couchsurfing.com. Although a lot of people use it for free places to sleep, you can also look for people to meet for coffee or a meal. But they will be locals.

wellspring, see if you can find Nikki's trip report about Paris: Speed Dating and Snow. The speed dating is not what you think.

This is the "speed dating" Nikki tried while in Paris:

I loved the franglish program, and got to talk to a whole bunch of Parisians. But I don't know whether wellspring speaks any French. It is a program where you speak to each person for fifteen minutes, half the time in French and half the time in English.

You're right, Nikki! I just assumed that was self-evident, but it's probably better to make that clear. I've had some French (years ago), but wouldn't be comfortable attending a Franglish event until, say, the end of two weeks+ in France.
