Paris is "closed" on Tuesdays!
Just returned from Paris, where we spent a couple of days. Just a word of warning so that there are no disappointments out there. The Louvre and other National Art Galleries are closed on Tuesdays (we wanted to see the Constable exhibition at the Grand Palais). This does not include the Musee D'Orsay, but that only increased the crowds waiting to get inside.
My disappointment was like the Americans I saw who were horrified to find out that Westminster Abbey closed at lunchtime on Saturdays and does not re-open until Mondays!
One other small word of warning - EasyJet brings you into Terminal 9 of CDG airport, Paris. This has a very, very poor range of shops to do your tax free shopping.

Sorry to hear you had disappointments, but the closing times you mentioned are of long-standing, well-documented, and available from many sources, so it's unfortunate you didn't get the info before you went.

thanks for the info on Easy Jet

When planning a trip to Paris, one of the first things one must do is see what days and nights the museums are open so you can avoid this happening.
When the Louvre is open the D'Orsay is closed, there is also the Picasso, and so many others to take the places of those closed. Getting a museum pass will help with not having to wait in lines.
The lesson learned here is to do your research and don't just figure everything will be open every day.
BTW-The Louvre is open Thurs or Fri Evenings also. Any guide book will tell you the hours.

As a word of warning to any traveler -- museums and tourist sites all over the world are not usually open every day of the week. Many times museums are closed on Mondays or Tuesdays--this is not just in Paris but everywhere. So, if someone planned to go to something in particular and never bothered to find out local opening days and hours, that is not a very good way to travel. I can't even imagine not bothering to find out the closing days of the main museums in a place you are visiting if you only have one day to do so.

Paris consists of a lot more than a few museums. The city was not closed. If you had read even one guide book, you would have known that the museums alternate closing days between Monday and Tuesdays.
