Paris Internet Cafes
 

I'm staying at the Marriott on the Champs Elysees in October. Does anyone know about what Internet Cafes are nearby, and what their rates are?

One way to go about it is to go to the following website: http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/pj.cgi?lang=en and type Internet Cafes, Champs Elysees, and Paris in the corresponding fields. This website will provide addresses, photos, and map.

That isn't an area where you will tend to find internet cafes, they are usually located in less upscale areas because that real estate is very expensive.

The closest one could be the one inside the Virgin Megastore on the Champs (it's in the basement). I don't know the price they charge in there, a lot of them charge around 8-10 euro per hour.

The other one I know of near there (or used to be) is Espace Vivendi at 6 rue de Tilsitt near the Arc.

The Marriott should have its own business center with internet access...

Ditto what Vincent said. Doesn't the Marriott offer internet? Have you already checked with the hotel?

I have checked with the hotel. It was 12 Euro per hour. Had hoped for a cheaper rate someplace nearby, like I've seen in London. Thx!

One solution is to go to the science museum near the Grand Palais. You have to pay a nominal entrance fee, but then you have free use of the computers up on the mezzanine floor. And no smoking!

Last year I used a place which name I don't recall. It's a photocopy shop but it offered Internet service as well. It was situated inside a passage at no. 66 (I think) ave. Des Champs Elysees, on the far right side as you enter. I don't remember the prices, but it didn't have an English keyboard, just a French one, so it took me ages to write an e-mail.
After that I used Znet, on 18 rue de la Bucherie in the Latin Quarter, close to Notre Dame. They had English keyboards and I think the price was lower than that on the Champs. I'm looking at their card now, it says they charge 5 Euros per hour. But I really don't think the Champs charged 12 Euros per hour, so maybe it's worth checking out.

According to the website I posted on 9/05, the Internet Cafe at 66 Champs Elysees that Keren (sic) is referring to is Label Internet, webpage creators and internet services. According to this site also, there is another place, Connection, at 91 Avenue des Champs Elysees (they have their own website http://www2.services.connection.fr/p...eweb/index.php).

This past Nov I paid 2 Euro/hr in an Internet Cafe on the 6 Arrondisement. Last May, we were charged 3 Euro/hr in an Internet Cafe in Lyon. I don't think I could pay 12 Euro/hr unless I'm desperate.

Like using a hotel phone for a long distance call, obviously this is not the way to go! I'm not a penny-pincher over small matters but 12 euro is ridiculous.

I'd just keep your eyes open after you arrive and have your email addresses with you, then when you are out walking around you'll be prepared when you come across one.
