Paris In Winter
 

We have been to Paris twice now, this past may and last year in september. My question is, would it be a waste to go to Paris in late Dec? will it be too cold to enjoy it?
We have enough sky miles to fly free now and my wife can't wait to get back there. Thank You

If you liked Paris in May and September I'm sure you will like Paris in any other month and season. For a free flight to Paris I'll go anytime.

Yeah, it's cold and rainy at times, but Paris is Paris. I guess I'm biased but, no, it's never too cold (or too hot) for me to enjoy my visits. And I have to pay for my airline tickets! Btw, I visited last year December for New Year's until the first week of January. It was great! And we did get sunny albeit cool temperatures for a couple of days.

I like Paris better in the Winter - it is not too hot or as crowded. I think it is even very romantic. A nice walk in the Luxembourg Gardens on a chilly day and then a long lunch is a great way to spend a winter's day. We also take in more of the nightlife at this time of year. Paris has great jazz clubs and of course the Opera season is in full swing.

I have been to Paris twice in February and am going back next February again. Certainly not a waste. Much less crowded, no need for air conditioning, lots of attractions are indoors. Last year it snowed, and that added to the fun. Parisians were scooping up snow from parked cars and throwing snowballs.

I was there in mid december 2004. It rained a bit and was in the 40s most of the time. One day though, the temps dropped dramatically on us and it snowed for a couple of hours. It was great. The key is to be prepared with silk long-johns, coat, gloves and scarf. Just don't let it ruin your trip by being unprepared.

The same might be said for Paris as they say for Ireland:

There are no bad weather problems when travelling there just a poor choice of appropriate clothing, e.g. raincoat with zip-in lining, etc..

The museums, Saint Chappelle, Notre Dame, Place des Vosges, Opera Garnier, restaurants are all there.

Paris and New York City are always great places to visit.

I loved Paris in December. When I was there the weather was actually pretty nice. Cold & crisp, but the sun was out for most of the days.

Paris has "temperate" winters, which of course means different things to different people.

Thank you all for your replys. I have just made reservations for Dec 20 to Dec 28 (Oh yeah, Christmas in Paris!)and will be staying at the Hilton
Paris in a standard room for 135 Euro
per night, except christmas eve and night 169 Euro for those nights. We will remember to pack wisely.
