Paris in the Rain
 

The extended weather forecast looks like alot of rain in Paris and Amsterdam.

Other than the museums what are some unique and fun activities to do during long rainy days?

I like to see bad movies in French. We went to the part II of one of the Wesley Snipe Vampire killer movie series. It was a hysterical way to spend a few hours.

These aren't unique but I've had fun doing them in Paris and Amsterdam (rain or shine):

1. Sit at a cafe (w/covered terrace) and sip a glass, or two, of wine/beer/hot chocolate. Watch the world go by or bring a book and relax.
2. Go to a movie.
3. Stroll across one of the many bridges with the one you love and enjoy the mist.
4. Go to a jazz club.

Granted I grew up in Scotland so I have an affinity for rain but I think if you wear wateproof shoes and a rain coat/anorak you can proceed w/your itinerary as planned.

I like to visit FNAC and check out French music. They have headphones available for you to hear many different cd's available for purchase.

"Singin' in the Rain" has been released on DVD. I suggest you celebrate by emulating Gene Kelly if it rains in Paris.

We have travelled to London, Paris, Amsterdam in November so we not only have to contend with rain but chilly weather. Neither rain nor cold caused any major problems though it meant some slight adjustments. As another poster said, have waterproof shoes and a raincoat. Oh, and carry an umbrella.

I've never minded the rain because we pop into a local café wherever we are, to have a pastis or in Paris A suze or lillet and that turns into meeting new people and information we would never get, if we didn't have the rain.

Ignore the rain and do what you were going to do anyway - unless it was camping it's not an issue. Just make sure you have waterproof shoes and a foldable umbie.

I'm with cigalechanta: if we are out and about in the rain, we are more likely to stop in shops, bookstores, cafes, little known churches and any other number of places we would have passed by in nicer weather.

But don't discount Paris's many lesser known museums. My favorite so far is the OLD (not new) Bibliotheque Nationale, where they usually have top notch photography exhibits.

Take a 'cruise' on the canals or the Seine. The boats are covered in rainstorms and it's a cozy way to spend the time. With the Batobus pass in Paris, you can stay on the boat as many loops around as you want, until 10:00 p.m. or so.
