PARIS IN OCTOBER?
Is oct 11 to oct 20 too late in the season to enjoy being outdoors in Paris? I.E Is it too cold or rainy?
|
It might be but then again it might be sunny and warm. We experienced both types of weather during one October visit. Paris's weather is changeable so you can't predict it with certainty. Bring layers and an umbrella.

I was there in mid October 2003, and it was clear and "crisp". I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't had bronchitis the second I got there...the cold air didn't make it feel better, that's for sure.
Otherwise it was beautiful, fabulous, and by fair my favorite on a long trip around Europe. We're going back in September this year. Jules |
Hi jeffwill4you, I and my wife will be there also in Oct.(first time), I love the rain if not too cold and heavy rain, and we wonder if there are places people could suggest for a rainy day walk, and also maybe some small rainy day joints to eat at with atmosphere. Maybe there are certain areas of the city that have a better atmosphere for a rainy day in Paris. Maybe?

I've been late November and experienced cold, a bit of rain, and warm. No telling what "typical" weather is. A charming Fodorite, Degas, has put together posts about the "passages" in Paris..IF the weather was truly horrid, these might be a suggestion. THen of course, those are good days for the big museums...

Hi J,
Franco has it right. Enter "passages AND Paris" in the "search this forum" box. ((I)) |
October in Paris can be lovely, but it's still at least partially high season for hotels. Reserve yours soon.
|
It depends on where you're from and how you feel about temps. Paris weather in the fall is more similar to VA or DC than to NYC or Boston.
IMHO its beautiful - and better weather for touring than July or August - but if you're one of those people who start putting on coats every time it goes below 70 you might find it chilly. As for rain - nobody knows how much - but you will get some. |
I spent the last two weeks of October, 2001 in Paris, and it was perfect. Cool enough for a light jacket most days, very little rain. I was told that the few weeks before that were cold and rainy.Go figure! |
We always go to Paris in October and early November. it is such a relief to have lovely cool weather after the long hot Florida summers. I cannot say we've ever been "cold" and rain has not hampered any activities , it just changed the order of them!

Wow! ira was right on, I clicked up "passages Paris" and now I am hoping it does rain some so we can take the paris rainy day "passages;
