Paris in October

I’m finally trying to plan a trip to Paris. Looks like October will be best time for us. Looked at September but things seemed to be crowded due to Fashion Month. Now I’m still finding hotels supposedly filled in October and can’t determine why. Is there something going on that is filling places in October just as fashion month does in September or do hotels embargo their vacant rooms until later in the year to get better prices? I’m looking for something on the Left Bank, preferrably in the 5th but not “in the hilly areas.”

Intel and recommendations very much appreciated. From years of travel we have some favorites but they all seem to be among those showing no vacancies—at least right now. Thanks for any guidance you can give.

I just checked a random date for Hotel Atmospheres in the Fifth, which we liked on our last trip. They have rooms.

Fashion week is not the problem this year. It will be the Rugby World Cup.

Try the hotel websites direct. Often you can get something at the same price as the booking sites and rooms are
The Rugby World Cup is on from September 8 to October 28 so that will have some impact.. However I usually stay near Gare du Nord and they seem to be available although some prices are up.

I'm having the same problem. The weekend of 14/10-15/10 seems highly on demand. I'm forced to book 2 different hotels...

Hi JMV,
We succeeded in booking in October avec le COQ hotel near Place d'Italie and Buttes aux Cailles (there's a fowl joke in there somewhere, one involving roosters and quails).
It is uncheap, but seems as good a value as any. The rentals that we perused earlier were ridiculously priced.
Gonna go the hotel route for the Paris portion of our Brittany trip.

I am done. the rugby tackle

I don't think there is such a thing as fashion month. Big cities are always busy in october due to business, so is nyc and washington dc. All paris isn't booked due to fashion week anyway. I easily got a hotel in mid Sept and it was a rugby game date. I booked a couple weeks ago. Maybe you need tobroaden where you will stay, I don't know.
