Paris in November: Nikki's photos

I returned from two weeks in Paris on Wednesday, and I have put together some photos here:

I am hoping that I will get going on a trip report this weekend.

Thanks for sharing; makes my juices flow to get to Paris.

Is that an apt you rented? Where?

Nikki Nov 22nd, 2008 01:32 PM

Yes, I rented this apartment:

http://www.rentalapartmentparis.com/

It is in the Batignolles neighborhood in the 17th arrondissement.

Travelnut Nov 22nd, 2008 01:42 PM

We went to the Batignolles park maybe last year.. it was so beautifully landscaped, and full of local families, toddlers and strollers.

What are prices like at the 'Brocantes'..? Similar to Vanves, or more 'upscale'?

Thanks for sharing - I used Kodakgallery, too, but haven't seen a slideshow style like yours.

You are an amazing photographer! How nice that so many leaves are on the trees and what a great apartment. Look forward to your trip report!

Great photos Nikki.
No pix of Fodor's GTG?
I am promoting/ organizing a GTG in Savannah GA on Jan 24 '09 -- R and I will be there for a full month, escaping the rigours of a Cdn winter.

Nikki Nov 22nd, 2008 02:13 PM

The slide show style with Kodakgallery is new. I didn't choose it; it just switched over to this style some time since I last looked at it. I actually liked the old style better because the pictures were bigger.

I haven't been to the Puce de Vanves in several years, so can't compare prices. I went to two shows on this trip: the large annual (or perhaps semi-annual) antique and brocante show at the Bastille and the small one at Square des Batignolles. Prices at the Bastille seemed high to me; prices at the Batignolles were lower. But my acquisitive juices weren't flowing. I left only footprints and took only pictures.

I did not take any photos of the get-together, sorry.

Nikki, the DH and I were VERY disappointed to miss the GTG! His sinus infection kept us apartment-bound for 3 days and, not being sure if he was contagious, we sure couldn't expose lovely Fodorites to him!

Avalon said it was great fun.

Maybe next time...

Beautiful photos, Nikki! Thaks fo rsharing them. What building is in photo #20?

Cathinjoetown Nov 22nd, 2008 04:12 PM

Once again, wonderful photos!

Was the food market close to your apartment?

Would you stay in the 16th again?

Nikki Nov 22nd, 2008 05:16 PM

The building in #20 is the Comedie Francaise.

The apartment was in the 17th arrondissement, and I would stay there again. The Batignolles area has lots of shops, cafes, restaurants, bakeries, and a real neighborhood feel. The market is the marche biologique, which sets up on the Boulevard des Batignolles every Saturday, just a few blocks from the apartment.

MelJ, it is too bad you missed the get-together; I hope your husband's sinus infection cleared up in time for you to enjoy your stay in Paris.

As usual, Nikki, Great photos, but they always make me hungry-for food and Paris :)

Challiman Nov 22nd, 2008 05:37 PM

I think there's a problem with the website, I get through about 6 pictures and it stops. I can see a series of small photos at the bottom, but nothing happens if I click on them.
Anyone else have trouble or should I check my own computer?
We just returned from Paris, too. Hope I can see the rest of your photos.

Challiman Nov 22nd, 2008 05:42 PM

I got them! No idea what was wrong to begin with.
Thanks, the pix are great. I also take FOOD photos! Looks like you had a great apartment.

Hi Nikki, great photos. Makes me really miss Paris, I haven't been there in almost three years - but my daughter is in the process of applying to a program that would have her live there for a year, so maybe next year.....

MelJ Nov 23rd, 2008 06:14 AM

THanks, Nikki. After 3 days of sleeping, he was pretty much good to go (or at least felt sorry enough for me to go anyway!).
