Paris in November and places to Propose
I've always gone to Paris in March. This year however I willbe going around Nov 14th -20th. Can anyone tell what the weather is generally like around then? Also I will be proposing. My inteded has never been to Paris. Her idea of a romatic spot is a quiet little restaurant outdoors.
Given the time of year I don't think this will be the weather for eating al fresco, but is there a nice QUIET restaurant or Bistreo in the 5th or 6th arr to pop the question? We are both in our mid 50s and our work is stressful taking care of kids who have been abused and negelcted... so this is very special. I'm giving this a lot of thought and naturally want things to be as "special" as possible. |
I was in Paris in 2003 but the last week, and honestly, there were 2 days that were really warm and everyone was out on the terraces...and some of them have what I'd call a "california heater"...to warm them.
You'd melt my cold heart if you proposed to me on one of the night time Seine boat trips (no dinner, just wine and some cheese brought along...)... I think there is an old law that you two have to kiss when you go under the Bridges...then take me out to dinner so we can plan the plans..and talk the talk... This will go back to the top of the list so people can suggest their favorite bistros... |
I am going next week and staying in the 6th. I will keep this in mind and post when I get back. This could be an utterly and hopelessly romantic thread so i hope it goes on and on...
|
I'll start the list with...have a nice dinner, then take Metro to Trocadero, then walk between the buldings of the Palais de Chaillot and wham, there is the Eiffel tower, lit up. Magical moment...A Seine river cruise would be nice, I'm still thinking of a couple of more ideas...

Regarding the weather: I have been there for the last three years during that time. The weather has ranged from sunny and comfortable to quite cold and raw. We have been able to eat outside under the heaters every time. Layers are good to wear. If you go to the department stores they are extremely warm.
The Beaujoulais Nouveau will be released on November 16th. There are parties and wine and food tastings in many places and it's always been fun. Just getting a proposal in Paris will be wonderful! I'm sure you will get more suggestions for restaurants. Congratulations! |
Dear son proposed on top of the Eiffel Tower.
As for outside, many restaurants that have outside seating have the gas heaters. |
Can't recommend an outdoor spot, but in the Fifth, Restaurant Toutoune, 5 rue de Pontoise (0143265681) is an intimate, elegant but unpretentious white tablecloth bistro with excellent provencal food that won't break the budget.
Also in the fifth, Atelier Maitre at 1, rue Maître-Albert (01 56 81 30 01. Fax: 01 53 10 83 23, Email: [email protected]) is a bit more expensive but it has a fireplace. Your hotel may be able to recommend a cozy outdoor spot with heaters. |
The jewelry commercial looks nice. He proposed on the steps of the church in Monte Marte (i can't think of the name at the moment)during the day, when sh will least expect it.
