Paris in mid-March?
 

Anybody been to Paris in mid-March? I've researched the weather, it says mid-50's to 70... Has it been comfortable? Bring a winter coat? Prepare for rain or snow?

Hope it's still nice for another awesome trip to Paris!!

I've been in Paris in mid-March for 17 out of the last 20 years and will be there again this mid-March.

There's no way to predict the weather. I've been in snow squalls and I've sat in cafés with a sleeveless shirt on.

Check the weather forecast a couple of days before you go, dress in layers, and bring an umbrella.

Checking the ten-day forecast on the web is helpful for finalizing your packing. Even so, plan for warmer and cooler.

A wool blazer that fits nicely under a hooded raincoat are probably better than a winter coat. Depending on the weather, you can wear one or the other or both.

Cashmere sweaters are very practical as they provide maximum warmth with minimum weight.

We're going next month too. We were there in the end of Feb. a few years ago. Bring waterproof shoes or boots because you will be very uncomfortable if it rains all day and your regular shoes are soaked. I have a gore-tex pair I intend to bring. I really appreciated having my silk long johns. I much preferred taking crew neck sweaters with scarves to turtlenecks. Some of the buildings are really overheated (by my US standards) and if I was too hot, I could just take the scarf off. Of course, a hat, umbrella and gloves. I too agree that versatile layering is the solution.

Unfortuately we haven't been as lucky as StCirq and have only been to Paris the last 3 years in March. I found that a raincoat with a zip out lining was perfect for the weather we had. Somedays I didn't need the lining during the day especially with all the walking we were doing. We will be there in late March this year again and can't wait!!!!

We were there in mid-March 2004. We didn't need the long underwear or gloves that we brought (hey, we're Texans), but we did need coats most days. We did have two days of low 70s weather.
