Paris in Late March
 

What will the weather be like? High chance of constant rain? We figure the museums may be less crowded. This will be my husband's first visit - don't want him to get a very dreary impression.

Hi <BR>take a look at these <BR>www.wunderground.com When you access a forecast for a city, at the bottom of the "current conditions" table, you'll see a box for "Historical Conditions". It's great for getting a general idea of temps/conditions during the time you'll be there. <BR>www.washingtonpost.com also has historical weather data <BR>That said, I wouldn't count on good weather in Paris, in fact I never do. <BR>However, Paris in the rain and chill is still Paris! <BR>

Thanks for the sites - I tried both of them but couldn't come up with historical weather data. Definitely didn't see a box for "Historical Conditions". Did I miss a step?

Hi Jane; <BR>I was in Paris in late March 1998 and March 2000. Both were very different experiences. 1998 was colder (40's) and sunny. 2000 was warmer (upper 50's) but cloudy and rainy. I Loved Paris both times! I wore a trench coat with pull out lining both times. I just layered my clothed differently. I wore leather gloves both times. I figured if I was in Paris in March it certainly wasn't for the weather! There were no lines anywhere. The cafes and restaurants were cozy. The staff attentive. The tours we took with ParisVision or Cityrama were with maybe two or four other people. A few tours were just us and the guide. What a treat to have a private guided tour ro the Eiffel Tower. Even the cloudy rainy days gave us the opprtunity to spend a bit more time drinking hot chocolate and people watch from a cafe. Have a great trip!

Hi Jane, <BR>I have been to Paris in Late March 3 times and generally speaking it has been partially sunny, quite cold with patches of rain. I usually wear lots of layers and gloves. However March is my favorite time to go to Paris, steamy crepes from a street vendor can make the coldest day warmer, the crowds are less and hotels cheaper. In fact I am tentatively planning another trip to my favorite city in March 2001. Bon Voyage.

Hi Jane, <BR>We go regularly in March. This year we had one day of drizzle and five of partly or very sunny skies. It can be rainy and there is often a chill, but just wrap up in a scarf and gloves. On the upside, the tourist quotient is MUCH lower in March than summer and the city just feels more, well, Parisian. Be aware the museums can still be brutally crowded. Have a lovely trip.

Paris in March can be foggy and dreary weather wise. But dress for it, as advised above, and enjoy it. There is nothing quite like Paris! It is to be enjoyed and admired. <BR>Of all the big cities of the world, I find that I can find my way around with relative ease, even though my French skills are minimal -- to be charitable. <BR>If you like classical music, there is something going on frequently. So take advantage of the indoor scene and go, see, hear, and love it.
