Paris in late August/Early Sept. - is everything open?
My wife and I are considering a last minute trip to Paris for a week from Aug. 25th. We know that in Italy many restaurants and stores are closed in August as the locals close up to take vacation. Will we find the same thing in Paris in late August?

You will undoubtyedly find some restaurants, etc., closed if you look hard enough.
If you are worrid that major sites such as the Louvre are closed, don't...they'll be open. Please remember that lots of Europeans take their vacations in August, not just those in France, and they actually visit Paris so I think you have few worries. One reason I am going on 4 September. |
Hey G,
I recall a letter to the editor some while back by a fellow who was complaining that in August his favorite bakery closed for 2 weeks and he had to walk to the other end of the block to get his evening bread. ((I)) It's not as if Paris were Podunk |
Thanks very much for your replies. Sounds like most will be open. We were in Rome and Florence for 10 days over Christmas and New Years and found that many of our favorite restaurants and stores were closed for vacation then, so I just wanted to be sure we won't run into that problem in Paris.

Late August isn't the same as early August, either. You are worrying about nothing.
