Paris in June- The Main Event- Chic Clothing & Dining

My first trip to Europe! Any comments for Parisian dining and how to dress like a sophisticated European woman?

Since you're on AOL, have you checked out the "France" travel board? Hundreds of awesome tips!

Well, in a nutshell you should not wear fussy,
childish clothes; wear something simple and sophisticated, darker or neutral colors.
Don't wear the kinds of clothes favored in the
South in the US (pastels, flowers, sundress, etc.)
I know because I love in Washington DC, which is
still flavored by Southern style, and it is hard
to buy a decent dress in any dept. store here that
doesn't look like you're going to a garden party.
I go to NY or LA to buy clothes--good idea for you,
too. My main suggestion is just buying some European fashion magazines--if you live in a large city, it shouldn't be hard to buy French Elle, Marie-Claire, etc.

Do not worry about how you look only what you see. You need to make sure that you have enough time. Save plenty of it for the Louve. You should take a lot of time to sit and stare at the rose windows. Just take it all in and live for the momory. You should buy a lot of souviners especially prints of Paris. Take tons of pictures. If you have time go to the towmn of Chartes and see the cathedrail it is worth you time.HAVE FUN!!!!!!!! Tell me how it turns out.

Sorry, I disagree. The problem is that most American do not worry enough about this. It completely changes the experience. I found Parisians to be friendly if one was well dressed. I was staying at the Crillon in Paris and saw Americans in the lobby with bicycle short and fanny packs! They were the ONLY ones, everyone else looked elegant. What are they saving their "good clothes" for funerals? I have been to 28 countries and unfortuantely you can usually spot the Americans and the Germans who are even less chic. Karl Lagerfeld and Claudia are an exception!

The little black dress solves all evening wear delimas. Evening wrap optional. Leave the big leather purse at home. Strappy high heel sandals.<BR>
