Paris in February
 

We will be in Paris for 9 days in February. Any ideas for rainy/cold activities. We are travelling with our very flexible 12 year old son.

I have topped a post about Paris in the winter to help give you ideas.

A list of my favorite indoor Paris activites:<BR>Musee D'Orsay - lunch in the cafe upstairs<BR>Louvre and Cafe Marly and the gift shops<BR>Sitting in Cafe Deux Magots and watching the Parisians going by,while enjoying a meal/snack/wine/hot chocolate.<BR>A English speaking film,subtitled in French at the cinema in the area of the Odeon..Blvd St Germain.<BR>Wandering the Carnavalet in the Marais, the museum of Paris~<BR>Galleries Lafayette,shop shop shop and eat<BR>Samaritaine, shop and view from the top<BR>La Chapelle, incredible stained glass windows, wonderful chapel and relics, and at night-music<BR>When tired, take a picnic back to your room/rooms, turn on the tv and have a rest,snack,and try to figure out what is going on in French television,we had the best laughs when watching Bonanza in French ~ <BR>Bateau Mouche, in the late afternoon, under the covered part of the boat.<BR><BR>

Don't do Bateau Mouche when it's raining! The windows get fogged up and you can't see anything. It's much better to wait for a break in the weather and bundle up really warm and tough it out outside!<BR><BR>Add to the list, Versaille and Sacre Coeur with a walk around the Montmartre area.

I'm sure it will be on your list, but the Eiffel Tower is so amazing. I would think that the queues would be shorter in the winter. We were there last weekend (yes!) with our 4 year old son and had to wait perhaps 20 min at 10am on Saturday - I expect weekdays would be even quicker.<BR><BR>We loved Angelina's for hot chocolate on the Rue de Rivoli, and Cafe du Depart St Michel for coffee and people-watching (their terrace was heated with big gas-burners, so sitting outside was no problem). <BR><BR>These are two things that we would have liked to see if we had had time: the Jardin des Plantes, which houses the Natural History Museum (the newly refurbished Evolution Gallery is apparently well worth seeing). Also the Science Museum at La Villette has lots of hands-on activities for children. <BR><BR>How about a fondue in the streets around Eglise St Severin?
