Nice photos!
Reminds me of two special exhibitions at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC we saw in April: Charles Marville: Photographer of Paris and Paris as Muse: Photography, 1840's-1930's. Amazing, evocative photos in black & white.

Kerouac,
I see this situation with girls like her many times during my Paris visits.
I hope that she is not one of many who come to Paris looking for the dream only to have it dashed. Her passport was probably stolen or lost and she have no money only to live on the streets. Hungry and no where to go. I hope not to see her in Pigalle leaning against the wall forced into prostitution in order to survive.

I really enjoy your trip reports my wife and I are coming to Paris in October and have an opportunity to rent an apartment that is nice on rue des rosiers any information or commentary on the street and area would be great I am not sure in this forum if you can message other members. We like the Marais but have always stayed closer to Bastille/place des Vosges. Thanks

Rue des Rosiers is a very busy street during the day, but it is very charming in the early morning, or at least it was the day I photographed it: http://anyportinastorm.proboards.com/thread/5220
