Paris in August
 

We will be taking a river cruise through France in August and will spend the first 3 days in Paris. I'm not sure what to wear. Is it acceptable to wear dressy capris with sandals?
Will the weather allow for a sundress? What do the locals wear? I want to fit in as much as possible and will not be wearing shorts and sneakers. Any suggestions b4 I pack?

No NO MaidaIabel! Don't fit in - You just wear what ever the heck you like! August is of course the hotest month in Paris (am I right Kerouac?) so your suggestion of capris & sandals is spot on. Yes, do bring along two or three sundresses but you will need sunscreen. Shorts & sneakers? Excellent! Especially if you have nice long slender legs. That'll stop the traffic! ha ha!

Seems like the locals wear mostly skirts and dresses, so you're good to go with your sundresses. There are a lot of capri's in Paris--maybe tourists? You won't look "wrong" in capri's. But do put some skirts and dresses in your bag too. :)

Dress the same way you dress at home..Sun dresses, Capris, skirts, sandals etc..The fashion in Paris is just like here in the US, anything goes...but a little dressier.

It will be hot and humid and hardly anything is airconditioned, particularly the Metro. Anything goes in Paris - anything. Wear what you would normally wear and pay particular attention to you footwear. Paris is BIG and you will do more walking than you ever imagined. Don't forget to pack a travel umbrella too.

August in Paris is usually hot. Capris and sandals and skirts and sundresses are what I always bring, maybe a thin sweater for an evening that's a bit cool. Something in case of rain - an umbrella or lightweight rainjacket. The good thing is at this time of year you can pack such lightwear gear that it will practically fit inside a purse, and a small carryon is probably all that you'll need.
