PARIS IN APRIL
WE are tryingto decide on when to go. Husband wants April, due to less crowds. Can we sit outside in April. I want to do the cafes and am concerned. I say June, but he hates crowds. Any thoughts?

If the weather is nice in April, you can sit outside. We were there in April one year and it was bright and sunny and chilly. The heaters were on in the sidewalk cafes and everyone sat outside..unless there is rain, and at night it can be really chilly.
June would be all around better. Tell your husband that there are usually crowds in Paris all year, except maybe February :) |
I sat outside a lot last week. A little chilly in the AM but nice enough in the afternoons. Have fun.

I sat outside in early March, if it doesn't rain and it does in April, you most likely can.

People have been sitting outside for about a week. The weather has been beautiful lately. Many of the cafés have heated terraces, and people are outside in November. There is really no bad time to come.

Thanks all. I appreciate the help. Any time in Paris will be wonderful. Can't wait!

We sat outside the 3rd week of April last year. Actually, the day we spent an hour on the roof at Samartine we got sunburned. It was also very bright and warm on the boat ride on the Seine. One morning it drizzled a bit as we went out early for our croissants.

Paris in April...
Blossoms in chestnuts... Holiday trees under the tables... |
April is already high season.
There aren't really any crowded seasons in Paris. The city receives millions of visitors year-round and is well equipped to accommodate them all, so no matter what time you visit, you're unlikely to bothered by crowds. At any given time, there are about 200,000 tourists in the city, but there are also 11 million residents in the metropolitan area. |
