Paris in 3 days
 

Hi everyone!

My husband and I are hosting a western Canadian friend at our home in Germany for a couple weeks. Together, she and I, the type A planners we are, have constructed an itinerary. My husband and I have never traveled to Paris in peak season before (we are going next week) and I'm hoping we've constructed an acceptable itinerary, planning for long lines, delays, strikes, and the inevitable "we must go in this shop" moments. Oh and we're packing our lunches and dinners and eating breakfast at the hotel.

Day 1 - Friday

Drive to Paris, Park near Disneyland take RER line A to hotel in Paris.

Army Museum and Napoleons Tomb (opens at 10am)
Notre Dame Cathedral, climb the tower (open until 6pm)
Arc De Triumph, climb to the top (open until 11)
The Louvre (open until 10pm)

Day 2 - Saturday

Arrive at Versailles when it opens. Tour Chateau, Gardens (see fountains), & Domaine
Head to Eiffel Tower, arrive at 9pm, watch sunset from Eiffel tower.

Day 3 - Sunday

Head to Chateau Fontainebleau via car, see Napoleon museum (a must for my friend), tour chateau and gardens, then head for home.

Does this seem like a doable itinerary during peak season? Any other comments or thoughts are welcome.

While in Paris, I would recommend you start at Notre Dame, then the Louvre then the Arc de Triumph and finish at the Army Museum. If you buy a ticket on the Batobus you can travel up the Seine and get on and off as you wish.

The problem in that the Louvre and the Arc d Triumph are open late until 10pm and 11pm respectively and I want to build in time for us to take breaks and meander as needed. We're packing our lunch and dinner so as to not have to pay Paris prices on dining.

Fontainebleu is lovely. We enjoyed it...if there is any time there is a town called Barbizon close by that is so nice & picturesque.

St Chapelle should be added to the Notre Dame area.

Skip the Napoleon room at the Louvre...wrong Napoleon :)

Walk down St Honore and look at facade of St Roch church. Notice the bullet damage. This is where Napoleon fought back a royalist uprising in 1796, and one of the main events that started him towards being Emperor
