Paris Hotels - No Smoking
 

A bit of a twist regarding Paris hotels: My wife and I find our trip much more enjoyable to stay at non-smoking hotels. Can this be accomplished in Paris? We would like to spend no more than 150 euro and be in the 7th or 5th?

doing my extensive search, many of the hotels i found stated on their website that they NOW are totaly non-smoking.

Hi dw,

Many hotels now have no-smoking rooms and no-smoking policies in the public areas.

If you wouldn't mind spending less and staying in the 6th, I think that the Bonaparte has no-smoking rooms.

It is better to fax or call them rather than use email.

I've also seen a lot of Paris hotels with nonsmoking rooms, and some with nonsmoking floors. I know the Libertel French chain has a lot of hotels like that.

I've never seen one that was totally nonsmoking myself.

Thanks for the replies -- the Hotel Bonaparte (Ira's recomendation) is a non-smoking hotel - totally, according to the email they sent me.

I did notice that the Bonaparte is kind of sketchy on Tripadvisor - any thoughts on that?

Yes, the Hotel Bonaparte sent me an email response within hours - by using an attached PDf that they ask I fax back to confirm the details.

I guess some things never change with them. They apparently refuse to take reservations via email still. Gosh what a chore. For me faxing is a chore if there's email. And, no, it's not safer (in my opinion) than sending c/c info. via email. I guess the fax is more binding than an email by law, but it's a chore to me-not to others-just me.

You might try Le Saint-Beuve in the 6th. Although it does not offer any non-smoking rooms, I was assured by the hotel before I booked that I would not know that there had been smokers in the room prior to our visit. Don't know how they did it but I could detect no smoking odours, not even in the drapery. Perhaps, other hotels also practice this method.

We love Hotel Muguet in the 7th, a hotel which is constantly being upgraded and improved. The rooms with views (Tour Eiffel or Invalides) are fabulous! This is now a completely non-smoking hotel.

We all have different ideas of what we want in the way of amenities and location for what we are spending.

The Cecil hotel in the 14th is totally non-smoking, it looks to be recently renovated.

Some properties are choosing, presumably based on consumer demand, to introduce non smoking policies even if there is no legal requirement for it. If a place advertises as totally nonsmoking you should be fine. Be aware, though, that in places that advertise "non-smoking rooms available" you can wind up still getting a heady dose of smoke because the rooms next to you may not be non smoking.

Hotel le Tourville in the 7th has a non-smoking floor.
