Paris hotels less than 130E/nt

I apologize but I have read so many threads, my head is spinning. I've tried to search on Paris hotels but there is a mix of information. I am looking to stay in the 5th, 6th or 14th districts in Paris for less than $130E if possible. Has anyone stayed at other hotels, that are quaint and charming...not bland like some of the photos I've seen in this price range. Hotel de Fleurie is booked and so is Hotel Pantheon. Bummer. Thank you.

Maybe this:

(It's been a long time since we stayed there though. Good location!)

Hi H,

We always stay at the Hotel Bonaparte, 61 Rue Bonaparte in the 6th. From 128E dbl w/bkfst. It is located near 3 metro stops. Has AC and an elevator.

Hotel Monge (has a/c) in the 5th
Grand Hotel des Balcons (no a/c) in the 6th

Your budget would be about 95€ (if $130 is in US$). You wouldn't have been able to book Fleurie or Pantheon anyway.

I always thought Hotel Familia looked cute:

Doubles/twins 99-111€

Travelnut Sep 5th, 2007 05:52 PM

oops, now I see you meant "euro"... fyi, you don't use the $ there, just "euro" or € (alt-0128) :)

Travelnut Sep 5th, 2007 06:00 PM

I was going to say maybe Hotel Delavigne in the 6th, but they've gone up about 30€/night!

Thanks for your suggestions. For some reason many hotels are booked in Oct. Yes, I forgot to ignore the $ and use the E:)

My favorite is still the Hôtel les Degrés de Notre Dame, and like grandmere's it has no elevator but is QUITE charming. Although I haven't stayed everywhere in Paris, it's still the best hotel continental breakfast with its fabulous croissants, steamy Parisian café, and fresh-squeezed orange juice.

Ah, and the square it sits on! The fact that it has appeared in 2 movies (1995's Sabrina starring Julia Ormond and Harrison Ford and 2006's The Devil Wears Prada starring Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep) is testament to its charm.

However, only the smaller rooms are at your price level. Singles for 1 go for 95€, while doubles range from 115€-165€. The best room in the house, the top-floor attic room (no 51 or 501) goes for 170€. When I last stayed there Feb 2006 it was 160€. I also stayed in one of the first-floor rooms (no. 12, I think) which went for 110€ and had a hot, powerful shower - wonderful!

October is one of the hardest months for booking hotels in Paris because of the many fashion and trade shows. Try lastminute.com.

I would love to stay at Les Degres hotel...I've tried for years and never can get in. Still working through the list. Thank you

Henry,
Paris is especially difficult this October because not only are the trade shows then but there is a big rugby "thing" going on. (Can you tell I'm not much of a sports fan?) Hope you find something that suits.

"Thing" = Rugby's World Championship ;)

Beatchick Sep 6th, 2007 07:50 PM

Hee hee, anotherjudy, I called it a Rugby "thing", too! I lucked out and scored reservations at Hotel Port Royal. Seems even some of the least expensive places are doubling their prices (witness Hotel Eldorado) due to this "thing". ;)

henry1, it's best to try for a room at least 2 months in advance. Also, talk directly with Nicole if you can. I lucked out with 2 different rooms on 2 different nights last trip after talking to Nicole and Monsieur Tahir in person. It was well worth the wait and exactly as I'd remembered it. M. Tahir and I talked for a good 40 minutes one night over Armagnac even though I don't speak much French and he speaks absolutely no English. Great memories!

In addition to Grand Hotel des Balcons already mentioned, you might try Hotel du College de France in the 5th.

Hi

I have read a couple of postings in here about people getting a room at the Hilton near the Eiffel tower for 120$ through www.hotwire.com. If you can get it for that rate it should be worth it.I'm not sure I would call it quaint and charming but you are not going to spend that much time at the hotel anyway :S-

My wife and I went to Paris last year. Here is a trip report with pictures and links http://gardkarlsen.com/Paris_France.htm . Maybe you can find some useful information there :d Have a great trip to Paris.

Gard
