freebird,
Glad you liked the Clément, since posting on this thread just before my first stay, I've been back two more times. It's my current favorite in Paris |
Another vote for Hotel St. Clement! We stayed for a week on our first trip to Paris, and it was wonderful. The location is perfect, staff was helpful and friendly, and walking distance to sooo many restaurants and cafés (Rue Buci). One of the best meals we had was a few steps from the hotel, at the AG Restaurant. Great food, excellent service!

Good to hear. I so need a Paris fix, it's been well over a year.

milaedg: Glad you had a great stay at the Clement. I took a spur-of-the-moment trip to Paris from June 30,2015-July 03,2015 as I was spending part of my summer up in Scandinavia. I tried to get back into my beloved Hotel Clement, my choice hotel of over a decade, but they wrote me that they were unfortunately booked solid. I ended up, about a 3-minute walk away at the Hotel Madison, but walked past the Clement several times as a Parisian friend and I dined a few steps around the corner from it.

Here's another vote for Relais Christine. We have stayed there twice and love the location, the quiet, attractive rooms and the good service. Breakfast is good too.

That's good to know. Thanks for posting and keeping my thread alive.

I've stayed in 7 of the hotels in the 6th that are on your list. The Clément is my "go to" at the moment for value and location. |
It is guenmai list actually.
I really like Clement too. And there is a restaurant very close called Pouic Pouic - excellent. Tartare de veau et huître was superb. |
May I make some corrections to your above findings..?
This may be the 'charm notre dame' hotel you've mentioned: http://www.hotel-notredame-charmepar...n/index_en.php Hotel Minerve (with an "e" on the end) is in the Latin Qtr: http://www.hotel-paris-minerve.com/en/ Hotel Aviatic St Germain is now Hotel Louison, and TA reviews are now under the new name; the Aviatic St Germain was never a badly reviewed hotel... the still existing Hotel Aviatic on rue Brezin is maybe a 1-star, and is the one with bad reviews (not the Louison) http://www.louison-hotel.com/en/ https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...de_France.html https://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Re...de_France.html |
* Glad that my hotel thread is still going strong 10 years after I started it in 2008.
* As for Hotel de Seine, #16 on the above list, I feel that it has gone down. It used to be my regular hotel for a decade. I then started trying other hotels when the price really hiked, but decided to try it out last summer-2017 and was personally disappointed. * I was to stay at the Hotel Artus, around the corner, for the spring 2018 trip, but decided that I didn't want to go to Paris and thus canceled the my flight and hotel reservation. But, at least the spring price of the hotel was way better than the summer prices. Maybe one day I'll actually try it. * Whenever I go back to Paris, maybe I'll go back to the Hotel Clement, which I posted on 7 years ago when I started this thread. A lot of folks that I personally know started staying there when I recommended it. It was my long-time Parisian friend and hotel manager that took me by there, back in the 80s, and got sets of keys to show me the rooms and said that she thought that it would suit me perfectly. Back then, Hotel de Seine had shot up in price, so I switched to the Clement. * If not the Clement, maybe I'll go back to the Hotel Madison, #2 on the above list, although my standard room was about the size of a closet. Or maybe I'll stay at my Parisian friend's hotel, that she has been managing for decades, in the same neighborhood. Happy Travels! |
Guenmai: I am bowled over by this fantastic, long running thread. I'll be staying at the Hotel de Fleurie in July. I will post back a current review here. Thank you so much for starting and perpetuating this thread.

We stayed at Hotel Artus in the 6th Arr. for 6 nights in early May of this year. Loved it, loved the location! We chose it because we wanted the central location and we wanted to be near the St. Germain church where we attended an evening concert (wonderful) and didn’t want to be walking around too much late at night. At Hotel Artus we asked for a quiet room and our superior double room on the 4th floor was very quiet, even though we were on Rue de Buci. The hotel had a terrific staff—very helpful and accommodating. We ate in the breakfast room only once since breakfast was extra, and though it was good and not overpriced, we wanted to try the many cafés nearby (we particularly enjoyed the Café La Palette most mornings). We would stay here again.

Typo correction: I meant to type "10 years ago" , not "7 years ago" in the above post about having posted about Hotel Clement.

Over the years, I stayed in the 6th at the Hotel Verneuil three times - in the 80s before it was renovated, in the 90s, after the first renovation and again in the 2000s when it was chic and more expensive. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed. It's on a quiet side street off Rue des St. Peres. Across the street is the former home of Serge Gainsburg, with the graffiti filled wall. There's a lovely sitting area in the lobby and I remember the staff as very helpful and accommodating.
