Paris Hotels - Any Experience With These?

I will be in Paris with a few friends in September. They are hoping to stay in the St. Germain area - although I am happy almost anywhere in that city!

These are some hotels in our discussion. Moderate pricing is good enough for us - in other words, a very nice hotel. We will not share rooms. $300 usd or less I suppose.

3. Victoria Palace Hotel
4. Academie Hotel Saint Germaine
5. Hotel Duo
6. Hotel Monge
7. The Hoxton Paris
8. Le Relais saint-Germain
9 Marignan

TPAYT, this hotel looks wonderful. The pictures of the tile in the bath seemed a bit untoward though. I can see that the name Henri IV would be part of the branding, but I wouldn't have thought they'd shorten the thing to HIV.

Hotel Marignan is a nice hotel.. but I dont think its in the same league as some of the others on your list.. I would consider it a budget hotel. Clean, well located, some rooms with private bathrooms, but not fancy at all.

Weve stayed in this one twice and liked it.. both times we booked the deluxe rooms as they standard rooms are tiny.. the location is great,, the staff are super helpful , ac was good, and bathroom was good size..( for paris. lol ) ..

Hotel Le Regent
on Rue Dauphine..

I stayed in the Hotel Monge quite awhile ago when it was a moderately-priced basic 3-star hotel. It closed a few years ago and has now reopened as an upscale boutique property. The hotel may be quite nice, but I don't think the neighborhood is quite the same as the popular areas along the Boul. St. Germain closer to the river. It's close to the rue Mouffetard, the Panthéon, and the Jardin des Plantes. The back of the building overlooks the Arènes de Lutèce (which are interesting to see).

The Hotel MOnge is not in St Germain, if that's what you are looking for. The Marignan is pretty basic, maybe a 1-2*. Given you have 4* hotels in your list, I don't think you want that.

Unless you are talking about the one near the Champs-Elysees, but I didn't think you wanted that area. There are 2 Hotel Marignans. The budget one is in the Latin Qtr and is a step up from a hostel. It's on rue Sommerard, I stayed almost right next door to it once. Even if it has improved, it isn't anything like some others on your list.
