I am looking at Hotel du Palaise Bourbon in Paris for mid-october 2012 for three people. Anyone have expericence with this Hotel.

The hotel is discussed in my above hotel thread. If you jump to the bottom of the thread and then scroll up to Dec 31,2010, it's #8 on the list which means that's it's been discussed. It's located in the 7th district.

On Dec 31,2010, I took all of the hotels that fodorites and I had recommended in the thread and listed them by district and provided websites making it easier to read and to also see if a certain hotel had been discussed. Happy Travels!

Guenmai,
Thanks so much for your reply. Do you still consider Hotel du Clement your favorite of the lot. We are looking for a triple.
Also how difficult is it to get to the airport from the hotel.
We plan to stay three nights in Paris and then onto Provence for the week and return to Paris for a flight home. We are thinking that we may need to spend another night in Paris on the way home.
Any suggestions,

It isn't difficult at all to get to the airport from most any hotel if you book a taxi or some airport shuttle that comes to your hotel. Do you mean by some other method? Which one? It isn't straightforward to get there by RER from that location (the Clement).

YOu'd have to look for a suite at the Clement to get a triple, they don't call them triples, but very good value and better than what some hotels call triples, probably.

BFT: I now rent apartments, up the street from the Clement, but I know plenty of folks, some friends, who still stay at the Hotel Clement and like it. I walk past it each year, but last stayed there in, I think, 2006. I'm sometimes in Paris more than once a year.

As for transportation, you can take a shuttle, taxi, or the RER. Hotels will call a taxi or shuttle for you. You prepay the shuttle fare at the hotel front desk.

As for location, I personally prefer the 6th over the 7th. Years ago, I stayed in the 7th, to try it out, but feel more central in the 6th, as I like to sometimes walk to the Louvre, the 5th, and also all the way to the Marais, in the 4th, at times. I don't find much to do in the 7th. Happy Travels!

I just got back from a 6-night stay at the Hotel Le Clement, recommended by Guenmai at the beginning of the thread, and could not have been happier with it.

It was surprisingly nice for a 2* and was more comfortable than some 3* I've stayed in. And the shower was the best I've ever had in any hotel anywhere. Which is usually my complaint about budget hotels, dealing with the bath and shower setup. We had a junior suite, which is basically a double and a single room sharing one bathroom, and it was a super value for the space. And the location in the 6th near Mabillon and Odeon metro stations was ideal for us. Big thumbs up."

This is a poster who stayed at the Hotel Clement in 2011. She posted the above on my hotel thread. Happy Travels!

You're welcome. Happy Travels!

I forgot to add, that if I were you, I would get a hotel in the 6th, over the 7th, for the first 3 nights and then on the one last night, on your way home, try a hotel in another area, like on the Right Bank.
