Paris Hotels--6th Arrondissement
Will be going to Paris in September. We like the location of the 6th Arrondissement mainly because it is so centrally located. Anyone find any great hotels in this area preferably close to the Seine? Am open with prices right now.

We had stayed at the Hotel du champs de mars in 2000 and had loved loved the place..right next to Rue Cler with the market !

I'll suggest the two Notre Dames: Hotel Le Notre Dame, Hotel De Notre Dame. How does looking out over the Seine, watching the sun rise over Notre Dame cathedral sound? I stayed in the rooftop loft of the , overlooking the above scene. Location ++, near RER St Michel(access to CDG, Versailles), on the street above Seine, but sound was not an issue. You walk out the door, cross the street, cross the bridge and you're at ND. The other Notre Dame, is two blocks away, on a narrow one way street just off of that street above the Seine, quiet, easy (1/2 block) walk to Seine, once again just across from ND, but this time the back of the cathedral. Nice rooms, friendly staff. Both near lots of restaurants (that street above the Seine has multitudes of nice restos), easy access for walking along Seine, booksellers, Ile St Louis, concerts at St Julien le Pauvre,etc..
Some booking sites (of many): http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75005lenotre.htm http://www.cybevasion.com/hotels/france/ paris/hotel_map_le-notre-dame_120.html http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75005notredame.htm http://www.cybevasion.com/hotels/fra...e-dame_73.html There are many more hotels, if you search on this site this topic has had enormous amounts of feedback. Hope this helps you ge started, Mike |
Oops, the loft was at Le Notre Dame, the one-way street hotel was De Notre Dame. The is also a nice cafe with a terasse that I had morning breakfast at 5 minutes away from "Le", on Ile Notre Dame.

I stayed at the De Notre Dame (in the 5th) a few years ago and agree, it is a great location, as noted in Eye Witness guide book. About a half block to the cathedral of Notre Dame and even less the other way to Blvd. St. Germain and Place Maubert. Lots of good restaurants nearby. We could see the Seine and Ile St. Louis from our room. The room was small, but most are in left bank hotels.

I second the motion on Francophile's Hotel Vernueil. Reasonably quiet street, and attractive facility.

just got back from the hotel sully st. germain. newly renovated.
90 euros double. no breakfast. great location. walked to notre dame and pantheon, ile st. louis, etc.. le preverre restaurant down the street along ,with many other recommended places. |
Another possibility is to be one bridge away from the 6th..in the 4th..on Ile St Louis. I like Ile St Louis for its nice main street with nice shops Berthillon!), nice old buildings/mansions, views of river/Notre Dame, performers/artists on the bridge to Notre Dame, concerts at the Church, and some nice restaurants, very central location, and bit quieter at night. I've stayed at Hotel St. Louis and Deux-Iles. Expect smaller rooms.

I do agree with the Ile St. Louis hotel suggestion. I stayed at the Hotel de Lutece and its related hotel, des Deux Iles on the last visit. However, I preferred the Hotel de Lutece much more. While both hotels are simple, clean, and with efficient staff, I found that the Lutece's rooms more nicely furnished, the lobby/sitting area larger, and the staff much friendlier and helpful. But either place would be great if you wish to stay on the island which gets quiet at nighttime. There are some very nice restaurants on the main street, rue St. Louis en l' Ile. I recommend Le Tastevin.

A f* hotel close to the Seine is Les Rives de Notre-Dame. The Madison is about 2 blocks away and is our favorite Paris hotel.

We are staying at La Villa Saint-Germain in October, The position looks good and the price wasn't too bad. A good website !

I liked Le Regent, at 61 rue Dauphine. Cute hotel and nice location near rue de Buci

My favorite in the 6th is the D'Angleterre at 44 rue Jacob..perfect location..beautiful hotel.
I do like the Lutece also , not in the 6th though. |
