Paris hotel - your comments?
Anyone familiar with the Timhotel Gare du Nord? Comments? It's quite near the Gare du Nord, which apparently the RER-B from CDG stops at.

Hi t,
Being totally unfamiliar with the hotel,I can only give the following comment: Do not end sentences with a preposition. :) :) :) |
That would not be my choice of neighborhood. If you're thinking that you want a hotel right near the RER stop, the same line stops at Denfert Rochereau, an area I stayed in during my first visit to Paris. It wouldn't be my first choice either, but I prefer it to Gare du Nord.
Since you'll have to manage luggage anyway, you could always tranfer to a metro line and stay almost anywhere in Paris. Or take a taxi from Gare du Nord. |
I wouldn't sacrifice the opportunity to stay in a better neighborhood in Paris just because the RER from CDG stops near there. As long as you're getting involved in the RER schlep from the airport anyway, you might as well make a connection from it to the métro to get you to a nicer part of town.

Timhotel Gare du Nord...why not? because it is well located for RER and I have good comments on that hotel...!!

Tomboy, you already have 3 threads started about this. If you can't find them you click on your name at the top of your post and it will take you to all threads you have posted in. I have stayed in a hotel across from the Gare du Nord (I think it is now called the New Hotel Gare du NOrd) and is down the street from the Timhotel. I was with a tour group. The area is not particularly attractive and having to use the Metro at Gare du NOrd does not feel safe to me. And yes, we have been back there in recent years but I still don't like that station. There are other ways to get to more central parts of Paris.
