Paris - Hotel recommendations needed

Going to Paris in September. Looking for something - good location, reasonable price, clean.

Thanks!

I'm going in September too -- and I already booked my hotel. The good inexpensive ones book up quickly.

You'll want to be more clear about what you consider a "good location and reasonable price"...I'm fairly sure I know what you mean by "clean". ;)

When I go in September, I'm staying at the Grand Hotel Leveque in the 7th not far from the Eiffel Tower on Rue Cler. It's $87 Euro for a double. Here's a web link to start your search: http://www.hotel-leveque.com/index.php#

You may also want to check a web site like www.venere.com for information about hotels and availability. People post reviews and I've found it very helpful.

Happy travels.

Jules

Hi,
You will discorver that Paris has an extensive Metro and rail system, so that in central Paris you are never really far (steps away, even) from public transport. Popular areas are the 5th, 6th, and 7th arrondissements (Paris is broken up into 20 of these, kind of like sectors.) If you do a search of the europe BB, you will find TONS of recommendations. Also have a ook using google, there are lots of hotel booking agencies, as well as direct with hotel.
As others will ask, define reasonable, amenities (AC?), room just to sleep, room with balcony overlooking Eiffel tower, any special needs,etc...
Happy searching,
Mike

I just came back May 13 and had no clue about the hotels but spent a lot of time wasted looking and did not get any of the ones I originally wanted because I was not sure - having no real clue which is best or not for a week.

I found the Castex Hotel (in the Bastille area on 4th Ar) from www.venere.com. It was $95 (could be higher in busy months). Clean Quiet Safe Convenient to Metro, ATM, the Seine river (Notre Dame). You didn't have to chat with the receptionist if you didn't feel like it. I really liked it. Oh, the walls are thin but we could hear a pin drop at night but when we woke at 9 or 10 we could hear people talking and such but who sleeps so late in Paris ? Check it out. It is simple and charming.
