I would definitely pick accommodations on the left bank, preferably 6th arr, if walking may be a problem. You are close to the Seine (which you are not in the 8th and arrondissements above), and we love taking the #63 bus which takes you all thru the left bank and over the Seine to the park at the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadero. It is divine. You get it right near Cluny museum, and can take it back or walk a bit before your return. I would recommend crossing back over to the left bank for the metro, as the one metro stop that is totally overwhelming but the change point for about all the lines is Chatelet near Notre Dame. We have found that the left bank is easier to navigate than the right, but probably gonna take alot of heat over this herein, but everything is smaller and bit quieter. I sent a couple of recommendations for accommodations there. Good luck! Also our hotel is extremely quiet and next to Luxembourg Gardens. On a cul-de-sac too, but would be more than $200/night I think. It is: Hotel des Jardins du Luxembourg. Walk the gardens then stop at Angelina for a hot chocolat, which now has a branch on the left bank -- hurray! The original on Rue Rivoli is always crazy busy, to be avoided (though we did get in there last month!)

KRNS, you have a French chateau near Milford PA--Gray Towers, the Pinchot family mansion. Are you sure you need to go to Paris for your France fix?

PS. I've been there, it's a neat house, but I know it's no substitute for the real thing. I hope you'll tell us all about your trip when you get back.

Coquelicot, been there twice but when weather warms up I should go again and walk the grounds, Only 40 min away from me. Didn't know it was a French chateau.

You might want to check out the Hotel Delavigne in the 6th arrondissement. It's my home away from home in Paris; a smaller boutique hotel in the center of Paris, but on a quiet side street and the customer service is exceptional. This is their website: https://www.hoteldelavigne.com/en/. It's in a perfect location, a few steps from public transportation, but the area is also very walkable to many areas you'll want to see. There are so many good areas to stay in and many good hotels, but definitely check this one out. Good luck!

Yes, there's an elevator. I think the views depend on how high you are (there are 6 floors) and which side you're on. This is one I took from my room on the top floor.

That's a tough decision, Karen. They're both essentially in the same area and both nice hotels. You probably couldn't go wrong with either of them. I like good views, too, but remember that you'll be spending most of your day out of the hotel...
