Paris hotel. Pls help
I am planning a trip to France from 21-Sep to 25-Sep (4 nights). I have contacted Hotel Muguet and Hotel Monge, but there is no room available.
Can anyone recommend some hotels ? I would like to have a double room, with the following facilities: - good air conditioner - safe place - non smoking - private bathroom Anyone knows why the hotel is so full at that period ? |
Hi Sam,
Paris hosts many conventions in Sept-Oct. When you say "no smoking', does the whole hotel have to be NS? ((I)) |
Ira,
I mean that the room should not allow smoking because both my wife and I do not smoke. Also, I search this forum and you have suggested Hotel Bonaparte. I also want to try this, but I don't know french. Did I need to use long distance call to fax to the hotel or is there any other way to contact them ? |
isn't the weather usually cool in Sept.? I doubt you'll need AC.
Can tell us your price range per night? |
It seems that the temp is 23C to 28C in the last year. So I consider AC may be necessary.
My budget is EURO 100 to 130. |
Obviously your choice BUT I was in Paris during that time in 2002 and it barely got over 50 degrees F.
Is that for a single or will there be 2 of you in a room? Do you have a particular neighborhood you were hoping to stay in? |
If you email Hotel Bonaparte asking them your questions in english, you will normally get a prompt answer in english. You do not have to call them.
|
Try this one:
<u>www.parisinfo.com</u> <b>Hotel Chomel - request "non-smoking"</b> 15 rue Chomel 75007 Paris 135€ including breakfast (on parisinfo.com) http://www.chomel.com/ http://www.cybevasion.com/hotels/fra...chomel_49.html (120-130€) http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...de_France.html |
Hotel Bonaparte has no email address, just fax and telephone.
|
If I don't know french, can I speak to them in English over the phone ? Or is it better to fax to them using long distance call ?
|
You can call them as the desk staff speaks English. I believe you should call during Paris daytime hours to be sure there's someone there that speaks fluent English.
If you fax them they reply within 24 hours. You can use one of those discount long distance carriers to send the fax. Ira suggests one in particular, but I can't locate it right now. I'm sure he'll check in and see your message. |
Another one for the "backup" list:
Hôtel Cardinal Rive Gauche 120-138€ 20-22, Rue Pascal 75005 http://hotels.parishotels.com/Hotel_...strict_en.html http://www.cybevasion.com/hotels/fra...dinal_388.html http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserR...de_France.html |
We liked the Hotel La Bourdonnais, in the 7th. It has A/C and a lift. We even had a view of the Eiffel Tower from our little balcony (quad room 503). If you click my screen name above, you will find my trip report of London-Paris-Amterdam, with specifics about the hotel and restaurants we liked.

francophile03 and ira,
Which metro station is Hotel Bonaparte close to ? How far is it ? Do you know the current price for a double bed room ? |
Metro: St Germain des Pres
Small double 124€ Larger double 142€ (or thereabouts) Price includes a continental breakfast (I haven't stayed there but I've read the details in numerous posts!) |
Looks like the closest metro is St. Sulpice. It looks pretty close to the hotel, not sure exactly how many blocks though. I believe a double costs about 124 euro including breakfast.
|
Hi sammak,
Call the Bonaparte between 09:00 and 16:00 Paris time. The staff speaks English. ((I)) |
PS,
Dial 1016868 before the 011. Costs 10 cts/min to Paris. Enter 61 Rue Bonaparte at www.mappy.com. You will see where the nearby metro stops are. There are also two bus lines serving St Sulpice. ((I)) |
ira,
From the map, it seems that the nearest metro is St-Sulpice which is two blocks away. How long does it take to walk to the St-Sulpice metro ? |
I told you Ira would check in! Thanks Ira. :)
Two blocks are not that far and the blocks are not long. Mappy.com gives you the duration of the walk. Just request 'pedestrian' in the selection. |
Mabillon metro is about as close as St. Sulpice.
Both are about an 8 minute easy walk. |
Have a look at Hotel Best Western Bretagne Montparnasse, in the 14th, a 3 star hotel with great rates! It is just near Montparnasse area, a very lively area, it is centrally located, very near also to Saint Germain des Pres. The Hotel have air-conditioning, it is very clean.
You can see the Hotel on http://www.bwbretagne-montparnasse.com Have a nice trip! |
Hi sammak
From the map, it seems that the nearest metro is St-Sulpice which is two blocks away. How long does it take to walk to the St-Sulpice metro ? How long does it take you to walk 2 blocks? :) It's about 200 steps. It is under 10 min walk to the 3 nearest Metro stops. ((I)) |
Bonaparte is all booked for those dates. I faxed a request day before yesterday for Sept 23-26 and they replied that they are fully booked.
|
We were very pleased with the Hotel Familia on rue des Ecoles. We stayed for five nignts in Sept, 2003. It's not a fancy place, but it was clean, convenient and the staff was pleasant.

I have to second the suggestion of the Best Western Bretagne Montparnasse. We stayed there a couple years ago and it was perfect for us. Not fancy, but the rooms (we had 2) were more than adequate, the price was good, the staff were very helpful, the location was good (2 blocks to the Pernety station), and it was close enough to wander the Montparnasse area for restaurants and such. We are looking to stay there again in October.
