Paris Hotel Location

I will be arriving in Paris in the begening of sept. What is the weather like around this time of the year? Since I will be travelling alone, can someone tell me if my hotel Campanile Bagnolet at 30, av. General De Gaulle, Paris-Bagnolet (thats the addy given to me) is close to the city center or a metro station? This is my first trip to europe & i cant wait to get there!! Thanks in advance!

The Campanile hotel in Bagnolet is not far from the metro, but you'll be located next to a huge motorway interchange, outside of Paris (not too far though). If this is your first trip to Europe, I would suggest you try to find another hotel located in the center of Paris.
I just want to second joelle's comments-Paris is such a great city and Bagnolet does not do it justice! It is rather inconvenient the further away from the center of Paris that you stay since the Metro kind of spreads out like the legs of a spider so metro stops get further away from each other...

The Campanile is a small French chain I believe-it is fine usually 2 star I think-it sounds like you might be there on business and may not have a choice of hotels? If this is true, just be aware that it will take you longer to get places from where you are. Also, and this is just my opinion, the Eastern part of Paris, and most of the North, are not particularly nice sections of the city-not as much to see or do as the center-west of south of the city.

So like Joelle-if you have a choice-stay somewhere else-if you need suggestions-there are many good ones on this forum-or e-mail me directly.

In terms of weather-at the moment it has turned hot and in Paris that means humid-in early September-it could still be hot or could start to cool down.

Have fun!

I am going to add another vote to changing your hotel. I would not hesitate to stay by myself in the St. Germain area. I don't know what your cost issues are. We just stayed at the Grand Hotel des Balcons, just off the Carrefour Odeon, and half a block down from the Odeon Theater and the Luxembourg gardens. It was a great place. There were a number of single people staying there, including women. English is spoken, if that is an issue. By September, all the restaurants in the neighborhood will be open, and it is incredibly close to so much, including the Louvre, Notre Dame, and even the Orsay.
Regarding the weather - our walking was only curtailed by the incredible heat wave in mid-August. By September that should mitigate. Sept. is usually a pretty time in Paris as I recall. if it is still hot, ask for directions to the MonoPrix store (a few blocks away, off Blvd. St. Germain) and buy an electric fan (Ventillateur - sold on the lower level) you can leave behind. I think we were the only ones who did that, but it worked like a charm. Have fun.

Add my vote to a better located hotel! The best way to enjoy Paris is to get up early and stay up late and walk all over. I would not recommend "commuting" back and forth to the city every day from a hotel that far away from the action, especially since you are traveling alone. I found in my research that you don't save anything by selecting a hotel outside the city. You can probably find something just as nice for the same price in a lovely neighborhood in Paris. Although, it may be a scramble to book something on this short notice.
