Paris Hotel in the 3rd (I think)

Looking for opinons on staying in the 3rd. A friend recommended the Hotel Paris France on the rue de Torbigo, but it seems a little away from everything when I look at the map. Any thoughts on this location? Thanks

Here is one which is in a good location in the Marais. Hotel Pari France is a little away from everything.

Have you thought of an apartment? It can be a reasonable option. We stayed in this one in the 3rd, centrally located and just ideal. Great for 2 people, a little cramped if there are mmore of you. http://nbenamy-apartments-in-paris.b...-patio-in.html
Have a great trip!

Without having been to that specific area, I would do this in analyzing the location (which I did)

On Google Maps, enter street name, to see where it is in general (how far to Seine, how far to Louvre, Place des Vosges,etc...

http://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8...4&hl=en&tab=wl

The above also shows the Metro stations near your hotel.

I then look at the interactive trasnit map on the official site.

http://www.ratp.fr/plan-interactif/

So, looking at your location, you have close access to Metro line 3 (Temple station in front of hotel), which takes you to Bourse, Opera,etc.. So for Grand Magasins (Galeries Lafayette for example), covered Passageways this line works. Republique station also would take you to Magasins district.

Also nearby, few blocks walk, is Reaumur station. This line #4 gets you to Notre Dame area and heart of Left Bank/St Germain. You could use this line, with a transfer, to get to Eiffel. Or, when going to Louvre, transfer at Chatelet station.

So while you are not in the heart of the tourist sites, with metro tickets you can get around fine.

Appreciate the advice! I will check out those websites.

Next...a look at the neighbourhood!

http://www.pagesjaunes.fr/trouverles....do?portail=PJ

THis website allows you to see a map of location, and as well pictures of the street, so you can 'walk' around

Click on the links below hotel name. Try 'Vue immersive'
There's your hotel!! Can move little man up and down the street.

the 'itineraire' link allows you to plot how long to get to another location by foot, by public transit,etc..

There are two hotels recommended, in the third, on my hotel thread. Jump to the bottom and then scroll up to Jan 01,2011. Then those two hotels will be discussed above within the thread. Happy Travels!

Hotel Meslay Republique is a great place in the 3d.

I wouldn't rule out other locations either - we liked Hotel De Neuve in the 4th, actually closer to the center.
