?Paris. Hotel in Republic or Studio in Montmartre?

Traveling with 2 teenagers. Studio in Montmartre-small. double couch sleeper and single couch sleeper. Won't cook. shower. or Hotel Annex in Republic. Same price. Which one to take?

We stayed in Republique area last trip and it is VERY well served by bus and metro lines. Also lots of services and eateries. I find Montmartre a "trek" to get to and from.

I am not familiar with that hotel so don't know how you chose it. It looks like a typical 2* hotel, fine for the price, depending when you are going. For summer, it doesn't seem to have AC, for example. Are you planing on booking a triple room or two rooms? I guess you plan on two of you sleeping together in a double no matter where you are. I hate sofabeds, I wouldn't choose that.

I would generally prefer to be around Republique for convenience, also, however, I might choose a hotel in a different location than that one, something more in-between Republique and Bastille, for example.

I am always wary of sofabeds as when they are bad they are very very bad.

I don't know the hotel, but Rep. is better location; many
restorants, good public transit,
agree with Christine about being closer to Bastille.

do you know any good clean places in the price range max of $125 a night. I know, I know, not a lot to spend but it is what I have. Can check in as a double even though we are two adults and a child? I do not want to be dishonest but as a child she can sleep with one of us. What do you think?

Two adults and a child or (per your first post) two teenagers and how many adults?

Our family stayed at this hotel 5 years ago--it was being renovated at the time. We needed 5 rooms so cost was a factor. I recommend it with "some" reservations. The family that runs it is extremely nice. It is a bit down at heels, and I doubt that renovation helped it out that much. It is well located near the Republique square, and many bus lines. It is CHEAP. It is clean but worn. We did stay a week!!

Hi curious99,

Because of fire regulations, you must declare how many people will be in the room; you may not just sneak in a child.

Many hotels do a semi-charge for children, don't they? Like adding 10-50e for a crib or such.

Have fun!

No,I do not want to sneak a child. Not honest. See my earlier post. I am traveling with two teenage children but one is considered an adult because of age. I just didn't know how to declare the other or if I needed to declare. I am just finding doubles so that is why I asked. Thanks.

Yes, you have to declare.

You declare by age.

Ask for a folding cot --

The triple rooms in that hotel were only about 90 euro, that's what a triple room is for -- one double bed and one small single. It's for exactly what you want.

Etap and Hotelformule1, Rue Dr Babinski, Etap, Less than 55E for a room for 3, in-suite. HF1 probably around 47E per room, sleeps 3, toilet and shower down the hall. There are other Etaps and Ibis's around Paris. Look at accorhotels.com for locations and prices.

We just stayed in the llth - between Republique and Bastille, for the second time. Our first was back in 1998. It is a fabulous area and buses and metro stops get you easily to every location in Paris. This time we stayed in a 3 star - Hotel Saint Louis Bastille, which is a splurge as normally we'll go for a 2-star. There are a good number of 2 and 3 star hotels in the area, and since 1998, there are also some WONDERFUL restaurants. I'll take a look at some favorite booking sites to see if anything pops up that caught my eye from our recent trip.

Hotel in Republic. But I know a better hotel than Anex hotel. It's taylor hotel. more beautiful, romantic and not expensive. T often stay at this hotel. Staff is very welcoming and it's located in a quiet street.http://www.thebestboutiquehotels.com
